Log Cabin Republicans “win” in Texas Republican platform: Changing “Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental unchanging truths that has [sic] been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nations [sic] founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable alternative lifestyle, in public policy, nor should family be redefined to include homosexual couples” to “We affirm God’s biblical design for marriage and sexual behavior between one biological man and one biological woman, which has proven to be the foundation for all great nations in Western Civilization. We oppose homosexual marriage, regardless of state of origin. We urge the Texas Legislature to pass religious liberty protections for individuals, businesses, and government officials who believe marriage is between one man and one woman.”
Basically, they are saying “We really don’t give a shit why you are gay-we still hate you.”
Way to go, LCR!
As long as you blindly insist on assuming “hate” as the motivator for every action you dislike, it will be impossible to have a constructive conversation.
Okay - “we don’t give a shit why you’re gay, we’ll still discriminate against you, treat you as lesser human beings, and make it very clear that we think you’re a threat by your very existence”. Better?
Trust me, you get off easy when we just call it “hate”. The idea that you could hold these opinions about someone without hating them is scary in its own right - “Sure, you’re a pestilent, rotten boil on the face of humanity who deserves less rights than us real people, but we don’t hate you” sounds disturbingly psychopathic - but if you insist, we’ll just point to the consequences of your actions. Congratulations.
As long as you blindly insist on assuming that you can deflect commentary on your hatred of LGBT by claiming that it’s not hatred, it will be impossible for LGBT and their supporters to live peacefully with you and your kind.
