The California GOP will recognize the [Log Cabin Republicans](http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Log-Cabin-Republicans-finally-recognized-by-state-6108921.php) and allow them to participate in state various activities. The vote was pretty lopsided for recognition and got me wondering if there are other states whose GOP membership are similarly enlightened.

What does it mean for them to be recognized? Were they not allowed to participate in the Party’s activities before? Are they not considered to be a part of the Republican party?

No they’re not. The national GOP treats the Log Cabiners as a extremist group they don’t want any part of. They are not given public positions or opportunities to spread their message, they are never acknowledged or referred to, and frequently barred or not invited to official functions.

Hopefully this means that the Log Cabiners will have a more public presence at California GOP gatherings, either as speakers, presenters, etc. Though I feel they are mostly self-hating hypocrites as something as fundamental as sexual orientation is publicly attacked by the GOP yet they still side with them. Its like they have Stockholm Syndrome

It means other Pubs will now shout “Homo!” instead of simply ignoring them. 😉

Take it from a pro-choice, pro-SSM Republican - according to my party I’m not a real Republican.
