# Logitech Keyboards - Caps Lock Key - what is the "A" with a box?

I’ve got a Logitech keyboard, similar to [this.](http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboards/7241)
If you look at the main image, on the left size of the keyboard is the “Cap Lock” button. On the right side of the button is an “A” in a box.
You can also see it on the 4th image for [this](http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboards/k750-keyboard) keyboard.
Any ideas on what the boxed A means, and how do I use it?

I think it’s just a symbol for caps lock. When you press the caps lock key on mine, a light with that symbol goes on. Is it the same for yours?

Yes, it’s a symbol for Caps Lock, the capital A is easily distinguishable from a lowercase a. Plus it’s the first letter of the alphabet.
Solar keyboard, that’s pretty neat.

I don’t think this has been posted yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s just the symbol for “caps lock”. My non-logitech keyboard has the same symbol.

I did think about the whole “Symbol for Cap Lock” thing, but some of Logitech’s keyboards don’t have that symbol on them.
[This one](http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboards/wireless-keyboard-k350) for example.

Its a symbol for caps lock - not all keyboards have them.

It’s a symbol indicative of locking the keystroke interface into an all-capitals mode.

Not only that, but if you press it again it will return to the lower case mode.

Is the question answered? Can we have one more question before the thread gets locked? Waitaminute, I just thought of another one – two more?
On the NumLock key on my keyboard, right above the numeric keypad, there’s a little box with a numeral “1” inside. What does this mean?
Also, when a Doper becomes a mod, does he or she get a special keyboard with a Thread Lock key?

On my keyboard, the 5 key, when shifted, is the % key. The key is evidently also the Euro symbol key because the Euro symbol is printed right on it but, for the life of me, I can’t get it to produce a Euro symbol no matter what combination of shift, alt, ctrl keys I mash. Any hints?

Your operating system probably doesn’t have the correct keyboard configured.

More importantly, why does the [Control key on Microsoft keyboards](http://www.wolfmanzbytes.com/pc/mskeyb1/keyb5lg.jpg) have the Walmart logo? There is even an “Walmart - all” under the “A” key. Is it a conspiracy or just advertisement?

I understand why my keyboard has an arrow under the Shift key, meaning it moves the typed commands to upper case.
But why does my Enter key have an arrow under it that points to the parentheses key next to it? Is it trying to tell me something?

“Enter” originates with “carriage return.” Strangely enough, though, the carriage would move to the _right_ to get back to the beginning, but the enter key points left. I guess the arrow shows you where the cursor is going to be.

Close your brackets AFTER adding a linebreak.
And why does the Scroll Lock key want me to push it with a bolder arrow? Do some keys like it rougher?
