LOLA - did they consumate?

hmmm, I never considered that Lola was a transvestite for some reason. I guess the line “she squeezed my tight and nearly broke my spine” would mean she had a man’s strength. Must have been one butch transvestite.

The lyric that seemed most applicable to the OP might be

“I got down on my knees…”

But how do you get down on your knees when you’ve already fallen to the floor? Wouldn’t you have to get up on your knees? Curiouser and curiouser…

I always thought they sang “in a bedroom voice”. But I don’t claim to be a huge Kinks fan.

Should we take the Destroyer evidence into consideration?

Met a girl called Lola and I took her back to my place
Feelin’ guilty, feelin’ scared, hidden cameras everywhere
Stop! Hold on. Stay in control

Sounds like he stopped… However…

*Well I fell asleep, then I woke feelin’ kinda’ queer
Lola looked at me and said, “ooh you look so weird.” *

How should we interpret the word “queer”?

Ah, Ray, love your ambiguity. Now, where’s that solo album we’ve been promised? Heck, where’s the Kinks album you say you’re still under contract for? (Take your time, we don’t need another Phobia)

Nothing to add to the basic thrust of the conversation, but it would seem to me that a dark brown voice would be just the thing to express furious green ideas.

Actually, the green ideas are colorless. “Furious” is how they sleep.

Nice reference, though.
