Good job, **Coldie !** – Excellent vocab/comprehension skills. With very little work on the stop/schtop, you’d pass the ultimate ‘spy on the train’ test with flying colours. Pucka/pukka – I have no idea. ‘Pukka’ looks right. Thank you the poster from …_Panama_ BTW, I once chanced across Joe Strummer at Marylebone Magistrates Court. Wasn’t very chatty but it was an amusing interlude. I can only remember what he was wearing (long black leather coat, black trousers – not a great surprise) and one exchange clearly now. After the ‘Guilty’ plea a fine was to be imposed: Magistrate: How much do you earn Mr Mellor ? (Strummers real name) Strummer: No idea Magistrate: You must know how much you earn (looking at Strummers Brief) Strummer: Nope Strummer’s Brief: The Defendant submits yearly tax returns, Sir. Based on last years assessment… Must have been sometime in the late 80’s. ---

The day this rant (nice one BTW 🙂 ) was posted there was an article in one of the papers I read- either the NY Times or the USA Today about that ad. The Clash did license the song without too much hestitation. The ad schmo’s did acknowledge that the song’s true meaning is rather counter to the purpose of selling expensive cars, but the song snippet used works well. Also the tag line came prior to the decision to use the song. Also, FWIW the new Jags built since Ford bought Jag have much better quality control.
