[/quote] Well that’s just wrong. After the part I cited, the rest of his post was, and I quote: “What’s wrong with fantasizing about equalling the odds with car drivers, bullet-to-the-head-wise? And doubly so, because if they engage in battle, they’re the ones who are going to lose. Same goes for small car vs. semi. If I’m driving a car, I’m not going to take a truck on, because I’m going to lose that contest. It’s just common sense. This is just semantic nitpicking. “You shouldn’t do X” is an extremely common construction in English that means the same thing as “ONE shouldn’t do X”. With all due respect, I don’t need _you_ to tell me the meaning of my own sentence. Besides which, even if he _was_ saying that car drivers are always at fault and motorcyclists are never at fault, that would be a completely bullshit thing to say. You weren’t saying that, were you, levdrakon? ---

[/QUOTE] Maybe I should have made the fantasy about having my bike equipped with rocket launchers so it would seem ridiculous enough for you to get that it’s only a fantasy. Anyway, I gotta hit the road - I’m due in Colorado and I’m not sure if I’ll have internet along the way. But I do have my laptop with me, so I’m not cutting and running, **lb**. ---

My only objection was to the clearly heated and spurious justifation for self-defense in response to a similar future incident. And I’m glad to see both that it was a singular incident of heated bombast, and that you’re big enough to apologize for it. Apology accepted. (Plus, I got to exercise my vocabulary with some novel insults, so I got something out of it.) Most car drivers have absolutely no clue as to what it’s like to handle a bike, and many fail to spare the attention they should when directing 400,000 odd foot-lbs of energy, which makes motorcyclists into instant second hand citizens. It’s not fair, but it’s reality. Be careful out there. Stranger ---

In fact, I knew exactly what you were linking to before I clicked on it. And, as I result, any time I saw you posting on any topic, in the back of my mind, I definitely thought, “that’s that crazy fucker who wants to shoot at people in traffic.” Now, I’ll still remember who you are, but I’ll be able to take you seriously. ---
