Hello I am trying to figure out a way I can operate an IP network camera from a distance of 1500 metres from my router. I wondered if anyone had any experience of doing this. I have an outbuilding which is 1.5km from my house which I would like to monitor from my house and over WAN. I have power in the outbuilding but no network connection. I don’t believe there are any wireless CCTV cameras which will operate at this range, does anyone know any different or have any experience of doing this. ---

I have had success with this over about 1/3 of that distance. The trick was to get WiFi repeaters that can be connected to external antennas, and high gain antennas. ---

You could use cellular data if you have a cheap unlimited data subscription. You could also try wimax or similar, although that specifically is not something I have tested myself. You can definitely make high-gain antennas out of cans or (better?) just 14-gauge copper wire, so, worst case, you may need a couple of repeaters or to set up a small mesh network. ---

[Here](https://www.ab9il.net/wlan-projects/wifi6.html) are the pre-computed 2.4 GHz Yagi measurements; you can just use bare copper wire like they say (re-calculate if you change stuff around), 17 dB gain for the larger model. ---

These are around 100$ USD each and claim a range of 10km. Thanks guys for all your recommendations I will consider all those options and weigh up the pros and cons. I did myself look at wireless bridges which will transmit IP, I am in the UK and was looking at the kits they sell on [this site](https://www.dtsdigitalcctv.co.uk/Long-Range-IP-Wireless-Transmission.asp). Which are similar to the bridges on the store.ui site mentioned.
