Longest-married couple that you've met

There was a couple that my grandfather was friends with that married before they were 20 and were married for 80 years. He was 98, she is still alive and is 97 now, I think. She was a few years younger than him. I didn’t know them real well- they moved from the area to Arizona years ago.

Welcome to the Dope!

Great story.

My eldest Aunt and Uncle (I have hordes of 'em) celebrated their 60th last December, at the same time as my paren’ts 50th. Until reading this thread, I thought that was kind of impressive.

Nanna and Grandpa married when she was 19 and Nanna passed at 93, so that was 74 years. Grandpa died about 2 years later

Thank you for the welcome!

Isn’t it sweet, to feel that way after so many years?

My maternal grandparents are at 62 years and still going. They’ve been married longer than anyone else I’ve known. My paternal grandparents are at 57 years and also still going.

My Gparents were married 66 years before 1 passed.

My gf’s parents just celebrated their 50th anniversary. He told me, “We’ve been married fifty years; happily married twenty.” He was joking.

My Great Uncle and Aunt were married over 70 years, both living to their late 90’s.

No children.

I think that helped.

My grandparents had their 70th a couple months ago. My other grandparents are somewhere in the high 60th’s.
