I once read a sci-fi novel in which this idea was used; Tanith Lee’s the Birthgrave. Truth really IS stranger then fiction. Still, I don’t find the idea THAT strange. So many opportunities to make jokes, and here I am posting something serious. OK, maybe just one: When she said she was going to divorce him, she said it tongue-in-cheek, but really it was a veiled threat. In an odd sort of way I can see her point. If the guy had talked her into showing her face, and she complied, then she’d have little reason to complain. But she had a strict rule about it, and he broke it while she was sleeping. That is, to me, a pretty serious breech of decorum. ---
