Look, charities . . . . . . . .I'M TAPPED OUT!

During my college days I worked the counter in several 7-11 types stores and had pretty much the same attitude. Now that those days are behind me, I try to not get testy when the 5th clerk today gives me a nasty leer when I tell her that I’ve already done my part.
On another note, FPIRG (a Florida based group of tree huggers) was soliciting a while back. They were allegedly raising funds for a specific cause that was near and dear to me so when the guy appeared at the front door, I wrote him a check and explained that this was a one-time donation – I didn’t want to appear on any of their mailing or calling lists. Within 10 days FPIRG’s national parent group called me based on the fact that I was a known contributor to the cause and asked me to make another donation.

assholes…

Depends on if that’s where he keeps it. :wink:

::d&r::

Let me get this straight - people are asking you for a favor (a donation) and then getting upset when you politely say “No, I’m sorry”???

I’d pat them on the back and say “Nice try, but your pressure techniques have made me sleepy and I must go home right now”

Or just tell them to fuck off. Either way.
