I would say I am a foe of Islam but not Muslims, to whom I owe a magnificent childhood. 
People are people, and generally manage in their daily lives to rise above the more hostile and counterproductive religious tenets promoted by those who want to adhere too closely to misogynist or vicious scriptures from hundreds of years ago.
It appears to me Jews and Christians have progressed further in discarding what is actually written in the Old Testament than have Muslims in discarding what is actually written in the Qur’an–using the measure of modern societies within which the majority population has at least nominal adherence to those three major religions. Modern Islamic-majority nations still suck as places to live for women and non-believers when compared with other western nations.
More science; more western education for all!
The founding texts can then gradually be relegated to the bookshelf while the cultural and holiday traditions still leave the sense of belonging that religion satisfies.
