In which case I apologize for “classist idiot”. I honestly thought you were going on a Marxist rant… 😃

When it get’s closer I’ll post an organized thread. 🙂 Nice crisp night, all stars out, tiki torches, horse shoes, fire, beach, grilled lobsters steamers, clam chowder, good beer…oh yeah!

**Phlospher** , the only thing wrong with your list is that “good beer” should be first, not last. Can I come, too?

How about: Good beer, nice crisp night, good beer, all stars out, good beer, tiki torches, good beer, horseshoes, good beer, fire, good beer, beach, good beer, grilled lobsters, steamers, good beer, clam chowder, good beer.
That sounds better.

Looking at the most recent **BiblioCat** post, I think there’s room for all of them plus some.

Almost all beer is good- drink it with shellfish and you’ve got a winning combination.

(Although have you tried Blue Moon- I’ve been loving that stuff lately)

In all fairness, the “popcorn lobster” my landlord tasted was prepared poorly. It had a slightly rubbery texture that suggested it had been cooked, frozen solid, then recooked. Definitely not freshly kill-cooked. The flavour had been cooked right out of it so all you had left was the texture and the taste of butter.

Now I’m so very, very hungry… I know what _I’m_ eating tonight!

Salmon!

What?

You do realize that those rubber bands are for their own protection, right? Without the rubber bands on their claws, the lobsters would attack and eat each other.

A-men. My husband doesn’t understand this, and how I have explained it is thusly: When you grow up in bald-faced prairie, you can’t get fresh, good seafood. So you don’t develop the taste for the bugs, and then people look at you like you have a third arm growing out of your forehead when you move to, oh, say, the Chesapeake Bay.

Too much work for too little reward. Can’t get into the blue crabs - besides which, everything is covered in Old Bay, and that’s all I taste.

I work in a seafood restaurant. I remember opening last year. I had never worked around seafood before and I am not a lover of it. I thought my friends were giving me a hard way to go when they were saying “Yeah were going to have a lobster tank and you got to get them out for the guest and take them to the kitchen”. I found out real quick they weren’t joking.

I absolutely hate going to the tank to take a lobster to his death. My co-workers know how I feel. And they don’t help any when one of them grabs one up and starts talking for the lobster “No, please don’t take me to the kitchen, Please, don’t pick me, don’t do it ,don’t let them do it, please I don’t want to die, not today, not anyday”. Argh. Maybe I need to get a different job.

I can’t believe I read through this whole thread the first time and didn’t catch that you were talking about Abbott’s.

ABBOTT’S!!!

My absolutely fav restaurant in the wide world! The best lobster ever!

Land of lobster rolls that consist of nothing but hot buttered lobster on a bun!

[sub]Oh, I need to contrive a reason to visit my Connecticut-dwelling aunt…[/sub]

If you’re eating steamed blue crabs, and all you can taste is Old Bay, they haven’t been prepared properly. Just a little goes a loooong way. They should taste like crabs, not Old Bay.

If it makes you feel any better, **Phlosphr** , I got the same freak-out.

My wife and I have been going to Abbott’s since our first date in 1992. She’s been reminding me weekly that we haven’t gone yet this summer. (We used to live in Groton, but are now a bit farther away.) Maybe we’ll go this weekend!

(And **arisu** is exactly right. Their lobster rolls are fantastic. None of that crappy, cold mayo-covered rubbery lobster there–an Abbott’s lobster roll is nothing but lobster, roll, and butter.)

**Smoke** - blue moon belgian white is very good. Don’t forget Blue Moon Harvest Pumpkin is coming out pretty soon!

It’s good to see a bunch of Connecticut dopers out there! Maybe a fest really is in order soon. This semester is gearing up very quickly and I’m bombarded with students this semester…classes are all full! let’s play it by ear!

I’m looking forward to trying the Pumpkin.

So, this sounds great- playing it by ear is fine, let me know when the time comes what I can do. (What a great excuse to take a little trip down from Mass.)
