Hey Dopers, My wife and I are looking for an estate lawyer. We’re in Chicago and are looking for someone local. Anyone here have any experience or know someone qualified? I don’t want to get into details here, obviously this is about an inheritance. ---

I don’t have any recommendations, but most state bar associations have a referral service where they will find someone reputable for you in your area. [Here](http://www.illinoislawyerfinder.com/find-a-lawyer)’s the one for the Illinois Bar. You can call them or use their “find a lawyer” feature which let’s you drill down by practice area and locality. ---

D’oh, I am an idiot. We got the lawyer part covered but we’re looking for an accountant. I say again, I need an accountant. ---

Does your lawyer not have recommendations for accountants? Some of my best referrals come from a few estate lawyers in my area, and I reciprocate when one my clients needs a legal specialist on the issues. The fact that I already have a good working relationship with the attorney is a plus for making things go smoothly.
