It was last night’s ABC News broadcast. They did a bit recapping various Oscar moments (like the “Kanye moment”, and George Clooney). When it got tossed back to Diane Sawyer, she said “he was in on it”, although whether that was fact or opinion was not clear. ---

I just read on the Entertainment Weekly blog that Clooney was in on the joke. I thought it was meant to be a take-off on how Russell Crowe usually acts at the Oscars, always glaring at the camera and at the hosts. ---

And actually, his character in Up in the Air was actually pretty empathetic to the people getting fired – not hard or glaring at all. ---

I remember seeing it under Kathryn Grayson’s name and thinking it interesting that they used “Actor” and not “Actress.” Maybe it depended on how well known the person was thought to be? ---

I think this was the most horribly directed and produced Oscars I’ve ever seen. Ouch. It still had its moments, but the camera direction was all over the map, and it had so many boring, long, and uncomfortable pieces, it was just tedious and tiring. The whole night just seemed cheap. Anyhow, I think they snubbed Bea Arthur because she did that Star Wars Christmas Special. It’s scarred many, many people. 😉 Also, Clooney was either definitely in on the jokes, or he was just playing along. That guy doesn’t have a serious bone in his body. Long live Clooney. ---

It’s being reported that ratings for the ceremony were up 14% over last year. Which is horrible news, because they’ll think the changes they made were good.\* \*I will admit that having 10 BP nominees didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. But I thought the rest of the show was pretty weak. ---

Is it just me, or were there a lot more people saying “And the winner is …” this year? I thought they were supposed to say “And the Oscar goes to…” ---

It’s the biggest movie event of the year! You can’t use some silicone or something? I guess they were going for an updo a bit “undone”. They should have hired Anna Hendrick’s hair dresser then. At one point, someone pointed out that it was raining pretty heavily during the oscars and that wasn’t helping with hair - but maybe that was just my misunderstanding?
