I saw a shirt in a store here in town but they didn’t have it in my cat’s size and they didn’t know if/when they were getting any more. It was just a black t-shirt that had “SECURITY” in white block letters on the back. I’ve been looking at Google and sites that I know that sell animal shirts but haven’t found it yet. I figured some of you might know of good sites that sell that kind of thing, that you could suggest.

[Cory looks good in shirts](http://gallery.opalcat.com/gallery/Cory/january18_003) and when we have parties or whatever a little “SECURITY” shirt would just be hilarious. He doesn’t mind wearing them at all–he’s totally indifferent.

I found a [dog shirt that looks like what I want](http://ruffruffandmeow.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PRO2&Product_Code=DogTanks_015&Category_Code=Dog_T-Shirts_Tank-Tops) but the one I saw at the store was specifically a cat shirt and so if I can find that I’d rather buy that. The sizing on the dog shirts goes from “4-9lbs” to “10-26lbs” and Cory is probably about 12lbs, so the small would be snug but the medium probably too big…

Cafe Press has a lot of [security dog shirts](http://www.cafepress.com/buy/security+guard/-/c_364/fpt ___________________ d); their sizes tend to run small, too (I got a shirt for my golden retriever from them, who’s _very_ slim, and it was almost too small for him even though it was the correct size), so you’d probably be okay getting one in the 12-25 lb size. But they have exact dimensions on their size charts to help you out.

ETA: Your cat looks wonderful in a shirt, by the way! Mine would KILL me if I tried to put one on her!

Personally, I worry about people who dress animals, but…

A. Get a shirt in your cat’s size. Take it to one of those t-shirt stores that will iron on any message you want.

B. Get iron-on letters (or material) and do it yourself. Don’t office supply stores have DIY iron-on shirt materials? Yardage stores?

I assume a security cat will want to carry one of [these.](http://www.mauserwaffen.de/index.php?id=home&L=1)

Yeah I know, I sell dog shirts through CafePress myself–but they’re white shirts. I want a black one with white lettering. I’d rather not have to have it made if I can avoid it. I’d be a lot more likely to get the dog one and hope it fit.

And yeah–most cats would not put up with it but Cory is special. [he’ll even put up with a cape](http://gallery.opalcat.com/gallery/Cory/kitties_january08_040?full=1).

The whole cats-in-shirts thing came about quite honestly, by the way. It started with us putting little x-small dog shirts on my cat Ding while she was healing from a surgery on her chest. It kept her from licking it. They looked so darn cute and Cory is such a laid-back cat that we decided to see if he would care if we put one on him. He totally didn’t care. He also didn’t mind this [fluffy red and white collar with jingle bells](http://gallery.opalcat.com/gallery/Cory/holidays07_012) at Christmas, either. (That’s Ding next to him, by the way, in her “party dress” shirt.) Nor did he mind the [jingly jester collar](http://gallery.opalcat.com/gallery/Cory/halloween_035) at Halloween.

[Coventry Cats](http://coventrycats.com/) says he has one dog one in stock, size extra small, that is sized for a chihuahua for $15, but he doubts it will fit a cat because “it’s cut for a dog”

Coventry Cats is where I saw the shirt in the first place! Haha! And Ding wore the x-small dog sized shirts, and they fit her well–Cory is much bigger than Ding and so I know that dog size x-small would not fit him. The other shirts that we have for them (both of them) are all actually dog shirts, so while a cat shirt will probably fit better, a dog shirt does fit ok.

This explains why the guy sounded exasperated with me! He must have wondered why all of a sudden everyone wanted that shirt!
