My little one had three, yes, three stuffed animals she took everywhere, a snake named Hiss, a turtle named Shelley, and I think a kitty named Kitty. Yes, we thought long and hard about those names! We went on a trip and stayed in a hotel room, and at night she’d line them all up facing the door to guard us while we slept. ---

That monkey is so adorable. I hope you find another one! I still have my lamb, now going on 30 years old. She (yes, it’s a she!) was made for me by my great aunt. There was one traumatic episode when I was little when my mom washed her, and the black felt on her hooves and nose all came apart and came off. I threw the biggest tantrum (because my mom was trying to _kill_ my lamb!!!) and to my knowledge she hasn’t been washed since. It’s kind of gross, really, but I still can’t bring myself to do it. Grown up, me? Nope! ---

My oldest lamb is called lambie, and the monkey is called OO-OO AA-AA. ---

My six year old has carried around her Hello Kitty for over three years. Do you know what three years of daily handling does to a bright white plushie? She’s gray now, clean but gray. We got a replacement a while back but she loves the real one and the new one is still bright white, sitting on her dresser. However I’ve noticed since she started school she’s been backing off quite a bit. At first she had to leave it in the car while she was at school but now she usually forgets. One day she’ll pack her away like I packed away my little Suzy doll 30+ years ago. ---

I went to Babies R Us today and they did not have the monkey. The salesperson who was helping me, though, took my name and number and said she would search other stores in the area. ---

I still have my first stuffed animal, a teddy bear named…get this…Ted. He’s over 30 years old (he probably came from a thrift store) and he’s been with me for my almost 31 years. He has been in every home I’ve ever had, including all the foster homes. I’d be devastated if anything happened to him. He lives on my bed side table. ---

You know, once in a while I get a bit cynical about the Dope and all the mean things people say to and about one another, and all the dumb sh\*t that goes on. Don’t ever let it be said that I back down from a challenge easily. I have searched multiple auction/sale sites (ebay, bonanza, boocoo, ecrater) and found nothing. I searched craigslist in new england AND in Arizona. I have just put a “wanted to buy” listing on craigslist in Boston. Maybe you should do the same in your area? Maybe my life has no meaning and I should expand my activities… ---

Ours had ‘bankies’ that ended up in shreds. And ‘binkies’ (pacifiers). God help you if you misplaced a binky. I swear at one point we had hundreds of them stashed in every diaper bag and coat pocket.
