I’ve had my own website for a couple years, but I’ve been thinking about starting a more anonymous journal to log whatever random thoughts I have throughout the day.

I know a few people who use Livejournal, and they like the community. I know a few people who hate it for its lagginess and the sometimes byzantine reference system (how hard is it to get a Livejournal code?). I know that quite a few Dopers have their own blogs, and I want to hear what you like and dislike about your services.

LiveJournal can be a bit boggy, but if you like th estyle of it, there are lots of other sites using the same codes that aren’t as busy – [dead journal](http://deadjournal.com/) and [blurty](http://blurty.com/) to name a couple.

(PS, I don’t think you need to get a code to join dead journal or blurty. But LJ codes can be a pain to get. I made a trade a while back for 20 of them, and some of the people I passed them on to had been getting pretty desperate in their search.)

If you’re really set on something free, DON’T go to [www.freeopendiary.com](http://www.freeopendiary.com) . Their free service sucks. For $20/six months you get the much better [www.opendiary.com](http://www.opendiary.com) but you don’t want to pay, so it wouldn’t be an option, I guess.

I’d suggest either LiveJournal or Blogger ([www.blogger.com](http://www.blogger.com)).
