Looking for fun, non-cloying kids' music - what do you recommend?

Pretty much anything by Jonathan Richman.

Trout Fishing in America.

Peter Paul and Mary did a couple of kid’s albums entitled Peter Paul and Mommy. The first was very good. The second not so much. Kenny Loggins’ “Return to Pooh Corner” had some beautiful stuff on it.

Veggie Tales: “Silly Songs with Larry”

Little Bird, Little Bird - Elizabeth Mitchell

Wow, that is awesome. I’m getting that CD.

Another vote for Disney. A lot of the songs are already available on sing along DVDs.

I may be prejudiced, since I live in Orlando and know a fair number of current and former cast members.

I have to ask - when you say under 10, how much under 10?
Because if you mean 8 or 9, I’d guess that 70 % of this music will be really uncool to them.

I had gotten music made for kids when my girl was little, but over all, it’s really really lame. we listen to regular music, but a wide variety. She currently adores the Carpenters.

One suggestion, which may or may not work…
A friend gave my daughter a mix cd of songs with her name.
She thought it was really cool that there were 12 songs with “Anais” in the title.

I love his album. Best Disney album ever. My favorite version of Heigh Ho (Tom Waits). A Volume 2 covering the modern classics & Pixar would be great.

My favorite kids’ song is probably “Skin and Bones” by Raffi. It’s a Halloween song, ftr. But I’d kill to get an mp3 of a Sesame Street song possibly called “Low Middle High,” but I haven’t see the record it was on for 25 years, so I’ve had no luck finding it. Bert sang it. It’s not this song, but another with the chorus “low middle high high low high.”
