I’m having alot of problems using my MSN mail with Outlook Express. I’m guessing its because of the reason given on the Verizon web site:

> [@](#):
>
> Please note that because MSN Premium comes with features to help protect your e-mail that are not included with previous versions of MSN, MSN Premium does not recommend the use of Outlook or Outlook Express.

I tried using my Gmail account with OE but G-mail doesn’t let you make folders, only labels. The biggest reason I don’t like Gmail is that there is no way to bypass the Spam filter. Since I want to use OE, I don’t want to also have to log onto Gmail through their web-site to check the Spam folder for wanted messages.

I’m thinking of using MSN Hotmail Plus ( which is $19.95 a year ) but I thought it would be better to ask here first and see if anyone has any suggestions of how I can get what I’m looking for for free.

Who is your ISP (the company you pay so you can access the Internet) - Verizon or MSN, or someone else?

Most ISPs supply 1-5 POP email accounts, which are compatible with OE. OE Is a POP email client.

You may have a POP account and not even know! 🙂

If Verizon is your ISP, go [here](http://www22.verizon.com/customerhelp/cgi-bin/olhstate.asp) to choose your state, and then on the next page mouse-over the “DSL And Dial-Up Services” and choose your service on the right. Then the page you end up at will have lots of answers about Verizon and Email.

If Verizon is NOT your ISP, go to your ISP’s site to see their help section.

Also, the “problem” listed on the Verizon site you found, to me, seem more like the features you pay for with MSN Premium are only available through the Hotmail/MSN/.NET interface which can only be found online and are not a part of Outlook or OE so if you are using MSN Premium Email as a POP account as opposed to Webmail, then you’re not getting the full effect of the Premium service. Doesn’t seem like the features included in the Premium account would preclude you from being able to actually USE OE, just it wouldn’t be as feature-ful then.

If Verizon is your ISP, there’s no reason why you have to use MSN premium. Verizon supplies plain 'ol POP accounts that should work just fine with Outlook.

Verizon is my ISP. Okay, I’ll give it a try and get back to you.
