Pretty much what it says on the tin. I’m looking for some good, inexpensive video editing software for my macbook. A friend recommended imovie, but I’m seeing a lot of bad reviews of it.
Generally what I’m looking to do is take various video clips (mpeg, mp4, maybe some avi) and stick them together, then put a sound-track over them. The ability to add effects or text would be really useful as well.
Anyone have any specific recommendations?

I’m not sure if it’s still available, but Premiere Elements was well under $100 and had nearly all the editing tools of the full app.
