Early May my stomach stopped working. I cannot eat more than a few bites of food or drink more than a few swallows. I have lost 30 lbs since May 3rd. Last Monday I went to the hospital for dehydration and Atrial Fibrulation (which may or may not be related, no one seemed to have an answer there…) I don’t remember when I last ate solid food. My Doc thinks it is simply gallstones and Thursday I go in to have my Gallbladder ripped out. It is a simple procedure and I am not nearly as scared as I was during last year’s operation. But I am hoping that my Doc is right, cause I can’t live this way much longer. So after the huge success of my op last year with all of you sending me your good thoughts and other good things, I’m asking for help again this year. I don’t mean to whine, but man, I’m tired of being sick! 🙂 Thanks! 🙂 ---

A friend of mine recently had emergency gall bladder surgery, and recovery wasn’t a walk in the park. She said it took her a month before she was feeling good again, but it’s certainly going to be better than the way you’re feeling now. I’m sending good wishes your way. ---

Best of luck to you on your surgery. I’m sure you’ll be relieved to have it over with! Meanwhile, have you tried drinking red wine? I swear that was the only thing that kept my mom alive before she had her gall bladder removed … a little red wine with her dinner made it so she could actually eat. I think her doctor recommended it. Maybe you’ve already tried it, but I thought you might want to give it a shot. Again, best of luck and I wish you a speedy recovery! ---

Wishing you an easy, uncomplicated surgery and a speedy recovery! Will be sending prayers and good thoughts your way, especially on Thursday. Thirty pounds is a lot to lose in a month. I hope that the dehydration and rapid weight loss is the only cause of any heart issues. Best of luck and hope they got the right part! ---

Yikes, **Khadaji** - if you wanted to lose a bit of weight, there _are_ better ways of going about it. Like Weight Watchers, Atkins, the Cereal-Only diet… Seriously, good luck with the gall-bladder-ectomy (no clue what the real name of that procedure is) and may you be chowing down on Ben and Jerry’s in the very near future. ---

I hope you feel better soon also. But I really don’t like the phrase, “my doc thinks”… My gall bladder surgery went badly. I hope luck is on your side and that is really your problem. After your surgery, when the doctor allows you solid food, ask a family member to bring you some real food. You’ve gone too long to have your first few meals be the salt free nasty hospital food. If I lived near you, I’d bring you whatever you wanted. I mean food wise. ---

And my Doc is sure. I am the one with doubts. I have the classic symptoms of Gastroparesis and I have been diagnosed with it in the past, so I keep thinking it is more likely that. But he is the doctor and I always say why go to an expert if you aren’t going to pay attention to him? Now, I don’t want to knock hospital food, but as others have said, it’s too bad I don’t live close enough to bring you a few goodies. I work in a cafe as the baker, and we do happen to be right across the street from a hospital. I was born there actually! We get hospital folks in all the time, and more than once I’ve delivered our sandwiches to friends there.
