Howzabout an update, Khadiji?
Khadiji’s been posting in other threads today, so one might assume that things are ok.
The Doc agreed that I should go off the meds, but as it turned out, it was a viral respiratory infection - likely contracted at the hospital. It was odd, I had first noticed the problems Sunday night after taking my meds. Monday morning I seemed to be much improved. I then noticed problems again Monday night after taking my meds.
I went off the drugs that night and as I said the doc agreed. But I saw no improvement Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and we feel that if it had been a problem with meds I would have seen improvement right away. I also had a runny nose by Wednesday.
We kept me off the meds just in case and since I was house-bound anyway, not much else changed. I pretty much lay around most of the week.
Today I am mostly recovered from the respiratory infection and have nary a cough (which is good, the cough was killing me.) I feel pretty strong and will actually be permitted to drive early. (I couldn’t find a ride to the hospital for my check up and doc agreed that since I haven’t had any pain medicine since Monday and I’m feeling pretty strong, I might as well drive myself.)
Thanks for checking up on me.
Good on you! Thanks for the update. It’s good to know you’re on the mend.
I’m visiting this post a liitle late - how are things going for you? I hope you’re not having any difficulty breathing right now. Is your pain being kept under control?
Good wishes and cheer from snowy Michigan…
Hugs,

My breathing is at ease. I have a little congestion in the chest, the kind that sometimes makes you clear your throat a little or requires a little cough.
I have little to no pain and probably would have gone off the pain meds rather close to the time we decided anyway. The pain I do have is now mostly tied to staples.
I see the doc tomorrow (Tuesday). He planned on taking the drains out, but based on past experiences and how much is still draining, I suspect it will be too early. (Bleah, the drains are the biggest PTA) I am guessing that, based on how strong I am, he will permit me to go back to work early. We will see.
Thanks for the asking and for the good wishes.
The doc saw me yesterday and he was thrilled with my progress. He removed one of my drains and all of my staples. He has released me early to go back to work. He will remove the other drain next Tuesday. My boss wants me to wait until the other drain is out before coming back (he fears infection.)
Other than the usual post-op stuff I am doing well. Thank again to all who contributed in their thoughts and prayers.
Glad to hear the good news!
I have had a relapse. I am running a temp and am achy all over. I am assuming a virus of some kind, but maybe I have an infection. Bleah!
I’m sorry. I hate that this doesn’t seem to end for you.
Hehe, it’s a pity she’d never let me videotape it, but I just find it hilarious every time my mother wants to change the position of a car seat. She just can’t leave either the seat, back or headrest in a medium position… it’s all the way one way or the other. After the last few tries she’s finally accepted that it’s best if I just stop the car and do the adjustments for her.
I hope you get better soon. breaks out another batch of candles
OK, the output from my drain was 110 CCs, 10 times what it was yesterday. And it looks more like pus than it did. The doc has called in an antibiotic, assuming it is an infection. I’ve slept for the better part of the last two days.
Oh well, it still has been good for the weight loss!
