Looking for an American colour war film I saw as a child shot around the sixties or early seventies set in Pacific Theatre in WWII or perhaps Korean War or less likely Vietnam War. All I can remember a scene where a commanding officer (who I thought was **John Wayne** , but I don’t think so now) was wounded and had to be carried on a stretcher through the jungle but still able to lead his unit. I distinctively remember a scene where a little Asian village boy (possibly orphaned) introduces himself to the soldiers as “My name is Komatsu.” I’ve always thought he was that kid **Hamchunk** from _The Green Berets_ (“Was my Peter-san brave?”), but once I saw it again as an adult, obviously not. I’m also on IMDB with no luck. Thanks in advance. ---

It very well could be _Merrill’s Marauders_. I’ll find it on DVD. Another poster on IMDB said the same thing. ---

No, after searching images of this vintage war film, I didn’t find anything in _Merrill’s Marauders_ that resembled a scene from my memories. Also tried another suggestion, _Halls of Montezuma_ (1951) with no success. A little Japanese or Vietnamese kid, with a buzz cut, and (I think) the American commander wounded on a stretcher is what I’m looking for. ---

_None but the Brave_ has a young Japanese soldier on a stretcher and Frank Sinatra as a doctor treating him. _Battle Hymn_ had Rock Hudson dealing with a bunch of Korean orphans. I don’t know if he’s ever on a stretcher. ---
