Dammit, I just bought a brand-new bedspread and curtains this summer. Needless to say, I’m happy with said bedroom set.

And now, disaster strikes. I came home last week, only to find a giant hairball on my spread.

So I groan, soak said spread, and put it back on my bed. Then, the next day-I come home, and it’s still stained, and there’s MORE puke on the bed. _sigh_

Repeat said soaking.
And then earlier tonight, I came upstairs to grab something, and guess what?
Damn fucking furballs.

Sometimes my cats helpfully vomit their hairballs into the food dish.

If you’re not using Petromalt or similar, start. Also canned pureed pumpkin is good for hairballs.

Mot of all, just accept your fate. Learn to live with hairball stains. They’re not so bad once you get used to them.

this won’t end well…(hint to those who are fairly new–it isn’t done to bring old baggage from other threads into new threads. Pass it on).

Can I say something?

My first cat had hairballs. The vet gave me some kind of ointment (it had cod liver oil in it) to put on her nose; she would lick it and pass the hairballs.

My current cat never has hairballs. never. I am sort of 😕 about this.

We got a new kitty, the charming Mr Sparkle, and within a month our 15-year-old fluffy cat started pooping on the bed. On my wife’s side. I took it to mean “you betrayed me.”

The reason I’m saying this is we’ve had a few cats, and while a bunch of them really got their puke on, none of them ever did it on the bed.

As much as I hate giving advice in the Pit, my suggestion is threefold: get furball-control food/furball paste, create a hospitable vomiting environment elsewhere and finally, put a Scat Mat on the bed. Fuzzle-Wuzzle might avoid hitting the sack with you for a while, but unless this behavior is an attitude thing it might do the trick.
Fuckin cats.

Canned pureed pumpkin? Cats will eat that? Or do you just put it on their paws so they have to lick it off?

_sigh_ I used to have a great fur stole. Not only was it pretty, it was warm and purring. I guess you need to get the cat as a kitten if you want to turn it into a proper LIVE stole.

My cat is a sweetheart when it comes to puking. Last time he did, several months ago, I saw a trail of regurgitated catfood in the hall, a vomit-free patch where I’d left my pants lying on the floor, and then more cat puke straight after.

I was so happy. I hugged my cat and then brought my fiance to have a look.

</div>

I’ve found that if my cats puke, leaving it there for awhile usually means that when I return, my cleanup job is much easier than it would have been if I’d cleaned it up right away.

I try not to think about it. Cats apparently don’t care what they eat.

My theory is that cats like to be as comfortable as possible to hoark up a hairball. We have 4 cats and the carpet to tile ratio in the house is pretty much 50/50. They **never** puke on the tile. Needless to say, the carpet is trashed.

One of them also vomited a nasty hairball on my chenille throw blanket  cost me a fortune to have dry cleaned

I don’t get the OP. Does getting a new fur stole mean she’s saving the furballs and is going to spin the fur and knit it into a stole?

I gagged a little when I typed that.

No no no. It’s a reference to one of the Harry Potter books.

Most kitties aren’t really big enough for a whole stole. My husband threat to ours is making them into slippers.

On the serious side, to get kitty puke stains out of fabric (even grass puke):

**Mary’s Amazing Kitty Puke Spot Remover**

Mix about 1/2 cup oxyclean or equivalent in 1 gallon of very hot water, add a small glug (maybe a tablespoonful) of regular laundry detergent. It will foam up, so be sure it’s in a big enough container.

First, check a hidden corner to be sure the solution won’t harm the color.

For something like a comforter or bedspread, put a folded white towel\* under the stain, then put a generous amount of the solution onto the stain rub with a brush or spounge, depending on how sturdy the fabric is. Once most (or all) of the stain has faded, put another folded white towel\* over it and weight it down for about an hour.

On carpet, rinsing the area with clear water before putting the weighted towels on the spot will keep the stain from sinking into the pad and coming back at a later time.

If you don’t have a white towel, put any white fabric against the piece to be cleaned, then any towel on that. The reason is the cleaning solution sometimes leaches color

Honestly, they’re cute and all sometimes, but if anything persuaded me otherwise, this would do it. I am sorry about your bedspread.
