Why? We remove their puppet from office, throw some more sanctions at them and move on. That’s an act of war?

> I think it’s reasonable to believe that the Republican party would not let Pence go all Fundie on the country after having Trump running the party through the muck for two years. They are aware that they’re on a downhill slope and that raw, unfettered Pence would just continue that vector. Pence is enough of a politician that he’d reign it in if the party told him to.

Are you serious? They haven’t shown the slightest ability to rein in Trump, who’s utterly batshit and not even a conservative. They’d do backflips to accommodate Pence, not rein him in.

If the only response to having a foreign country control our President is a fresh round of sanctions, everyone from the New Zealand to China will get in on that, under the presumption that they’ll be the ones to get away with it and the rewards are worth the risk.

If definitive proof comes out, we’ll be required to respond in some dramatic and fearsome way.

Sessions still works as the Attorney General.

Paul Ryan on Trump: “I can look myself in the mirror at the end of the day and say I avoided that tragedy, I avoided that tragedy, I avoided that tragedy”

Robert Mueller was appointed in consultation with Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Richard Burr.

Okay, so they’ve barely managed to keep the country from plunging into a constitutional crisis. But Ryan? History will paint him as a spineless enabler. Mueller? Sure, they appointed him – they had to appoint somebody – but they’ve fostered one conspiracy theory after another to undermine him.

Has one GOP congressperson yet stood up and said anything negative about even one of Trump’s executive orders? Where are the all the free-market conservatives standing up against the tariffs?

I’ll expect even less backbone against President Pence.

If I were to go look one up, would you retract all the variations of “spineless” criticism you leveled against the GOP in this post?

Yes.

And that’s why the definitive proof will _not_ come out.

Trump will resign for ‘health reasons’ and Pence will be installed and no one will have their noses rubbed in Russia’s role in owning/operating Trump. It will just …remain unspoken.

Have you looked into Pences ties to trump and the administration? I know that sounds like a weird question. But Pence was there for it all. I don’t see him levitating out of that.

For someone other than Trump, sure.

But, frankly, he’s stuck as President. The Trump Organization and Trump Foundation are both under criminal investigation - let alone Mueller’s investigation. His best chance of staying out of jail is to hope that he can stay in office for eight years and lapse the statute of limitations, and apply pardons judiciously on anything that he can’t beat that way.

The only way you’re getting him out is through impeachment and a Senate conviction, or by voting him out in 2020.

Democrats think that it’s useful to speak out on people. Republicans think that it’s more effective to act against them.

Well, that’s the other shoe that’s yet to drop. Most believe Mueller is looking at Pence, too. Whether Pence was able to stay away from the coordinating-with-Russians enough to get to be President, remains to be seen.

Certainly Pence doesn’t have Trump’s long history of financial ties to the oligarchs. So he has that in his favor, legal-liability-wise.

I agree with your reasoning, but it’s possible that the option of staying President may not be given to him. If the major GOP donors start to believe their own business interests are suffering because of Trump’s allegiance to Putin and Trump’s nutty ideas about the economy, then…he’ll be invited to resign.

I’d love to see that example. I’d love to know that one GOP congressperson has some stones.

Donald wimped out of his meeting with Rosenstein today. Make of that what you will.

Two words: sealed indictments.

Mueller is not going to indict a sitting president, but he will certainly collect his indictments and ask judges to keep them under seal. Once unindicted co-conspirator Donald John Trump is no longer in office, he will instantly become indicted co-conspirator Donald John Trump.

At worst, it’s eight years not in jail.
