Side note: Aren’t limericks supposed to have a specific meter? I thought the first, second and fifth lines were supposed to be nine syllables metered as: **da-DAH-da da-DAH-da da-DAH-da** With the third and fourth lines having five syllables metered as: **da-DAH-da-da DAH** Some of the limericks I see here, including the one I just finished, don’t stick to that meter scheme. Is that considered OK? To my ear, it makes the limerick sound off unless it fits (what I view as) the “standard” limerick meter.
