# LORD OF THE RINGS book fans: Do you like poetry?

I read LOTR but skipped all the stupid songs and poetry in it.

I’m a strictly minor league Tolkien geek compared to some here. But still enough of a fan to qualify as one, I think - I like the Silmarillion ( and have read it several times ). my favorite part of the LotR might be the appendices ( history geek ) and I have also read one or two critical analyses of the LotR.

Although I categorized my self as “dislike poetry”, my actual position is just a bit more nuanced. I’m _usually_ indifferent to poetry, but there are occasional exceptions. I am generally indifferent to Tolkien’s poetry.

I like the books, don’t care about poetry in general. Not a dislike, just a disinterest.
