\*\*Welcome to Lord of the Rings Mafia. \*\* Yep, buckle up everyone, we’ve got another cool Mafia game ready and we’re doin’ it again! This game is not targeted to newbies, but I don’t think anything in it should entirely scare off someone who has never played. If you are interested and you think you have the time to contribute, sign up. You don’t need to be an expert in Lord of the Rings to play, but it probably would be helpful just to have a basic idea of the setting or story. You can read about it on Wikipedia pretty easily. It’s classic fantasy stuff and the game is by no means as complicated as the book. In the land of Mordor, in Mount Doom, Sauron the Necromancer forged a Ring of great power. In this Ring, he poured his power and might and by wielding it, he was nearly unstoppable in his evil desires. And his evil desires were greater than any living being in all of Middle-earth, which is where our adventure takes place. ``` Fortunately for all who were good in Middle-earth, Sauron was defeated. The Ring was cut from his hand and he was knocked off his throne of evil. Unfortunately, the ring itself was not destroyed and it eventually fell into mystery. Now, centuries later, Sauron is beginning to re-collect himself into physical form and is rebuilding his great army. Within Mordor, evil life has begun to spring up again. Even more worrisome, rumors have been flying for sometime that he has amassed himself a very loyal collection of Servants of the Darkness. Sauron and the Servants of Darkness seek nothing less than to control, manipulate, and kill any who rise up against Sauron. Fortunately, not all hope has been lost. A new collection of heroic individuals has arisen. They plan to work together to defeat Sauron and his fellow Servants of Darkness. ``` They are the Alliance of Light. They will not stop until Sauron and his minions have been destroyed. More rumors have been coming in lately. Deeply disturing rumors. Rumors that Sauron and his minions have hidden themselves amongst the Alliance of Light and are sneakily planning to kill them as soon as possible. This is a time for deliberation and discussion. This is a time for action. This is a time to seek out those who are evil and make sure they suffer and pay consequences for their crimes. **This is the time to find the Lord of the Rings and his fellow Servants of Darkness and wipe them from the face of Middle-earth forever.** Signup List(we had a few pre-signup) 1. More specific “Mafia” game information: Please let’s avoid having tons of people drop out like we had in Harry Potter Mafia. Loved the game, but it was a bit frustrating(and really hurt Town in that game, who ended up losing). ☹ Each Day, the players in the game will vote to lynch/kill one person. Whomever receives the most votes dies and is out of the game. If we have a tie, the first person who received the top vote total will die(if two folks tie with 8 votes, the first person who got to 8 will die). Remember this as you vote. Vocabulary/Terms 1. One faction is called the “ **Alliance of Light** ” and is comprised of individuals who are working together to find Sauron and his minions. The “Alliance of Light” is this game’s version of “Townies.” 2. One faction is called, “ **Servants of Darkness** ” and is comprised of members who are committed to evil and serve Sauron… “Servants of Darkness” are this game’s version of Scum. I will answer no questions about the existence/nonexistence of any additional factions, nor will I answer general questions about power roles and so forth. Lord of the Rings Mafia Rules: Votes are in bold and blue, like so: **Vote Mahaloth** Unvotes are in bold and red: **Unvote Mahaloth** Mod questions are in bold and green: **What happens if Barack Obama signs up but is too busy to play?** If I do not respond to your question, I either missed it(ask again), or I am ignoring it. If I choose to do so, I will tell you that I am not answering it, but I don’t “have to”, so to speak. **Do NOT PM each other about the game.** Nights are 2 days long, Days are 5 days long. They may get shorter as the player list shrinks. I’ll announce when Night Zero(an intro Night with no kills or power usage) begins after the signups are complete and we’ll go from there. **All Alliance of Light strategy must occur during the Day. Because the Alliance of Light are so busy trying to keep themselves alive, they do not meet out in public at Night and are unable to communicate in any effective way.** Only fluff posts are allowed during the Night. If you “talk strategy” during the Night, I will kill you…painfully(uh, yeah.) \*\*Editing of posts is banned. Don’t do it. I’ll kill you if you do. \*\* Oh, and this game, \*\*NO WARNINGS. My favorite part in the books was when everyone in the council of elrond started accusing each other of being orcs in disguise and began random lynchings. I’m in. ---
