Yes it is [available finally!!](http://www.nytimes.com/external/gigaom/2009/04/20/20gigaom-middle-earth-arrives-on-ereader-platform-34101.html) I would love to know the background story of how they finally got the estate to release it.

Seriously, I’m not a Tolkien geek. I’ve never actually made it through LOTR. But I think it will be a lot easier on my Kindle. At the very least, it’ll be easier to carry around! (I have the one volume edition.) I love reading on my Kindle. I think I might actually make it through this time!
