For the last few weeks I’ve been having a problem with Google Chrome. The first symptom will be that mouse-overs don’t work on hyperlinks. Eventually, I will not be able to click on hyperlinks at all; nothing happens. Shutting down Chrome and re-starting usually fixes these problems. On very rare occasions I have to restart my computer. This loss of functionality is confined to web content; everything works fine in the menu bar and elsewhere in the Chrome window, and in other applications.

I’ve tried to keep an eye on which web sites I visit to see if I can determine if one in particular might be the culprit. So far, there’s nothing I can say for sure other than that, when doing my ritual morning web-surfing, I usually notice it first while on [fark.com](http://fark.com). Unfortunately, by that time I’ve clicked through to too many other web sites to be able to isolate any as the culprits.

FWIW I’m running an iMac that’s less than a year old, macOS 10.13.16, Chrome v70.0.3538.77.

Has this happened to anyone else? Suggestions for possible culprits?

Are you running a music player? [This reddit user](https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/373zhi/hover_functionality_broken_in_chrome_for_me/) said he was having the problem while running foobar.

No music player. Looking further into the Reddit user’s issue, I don’t have anything running in transparent mode, either (as far as I know).

Have to keep plugging away at it, I guess.

Months later, in case anybody cares, it seems to be something that Quicken for Mac is doing. When my mouse-overs start misbehaving, if I shut down Quicken they come instantly back.

Problem identified and remedied.
