Those symbols made me kinda nervous, and I don’t know why.
Continuing the Sawyer nickname parade: Hurley was called Rerun, then Babar, and then…Ham Ho? What was that last one?
Sawyer said “Please” and “I’m sorry.” And I nearly fainted from the shock.

Another scam of an episode, another promised big reveal episode in which we got diddly squat except that the Island went to Defcon Penguin before the stand down. It did sound like something was warming up, though, perhaps the blast doors and such. But nothing happened. Would be interesting, though, if they went outside and there was half a nuclear missile sticking out of the ground with the silo doors cranked open.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if balloon guy was, well, a balloon guy. Or he’ll die or escape before we find anything out. It seems like they are setting Sayid up for another big remorseful Spirit Voyage, just like after he tortured Sawyer. My guess is that he’ll be picked up by the Others during it and he can go back to snuggling with Barbara Hershey next summer.
I’m starting to wish for the episodes in which nothing happens except character development (like last week) rather than the ones that they lead us on to hope for The Reveal of Big Secrets…

They’re rerunning the pilot episode (again!) next week. I guess they only wanted to go up against the Olympics with a first run episode once.
I noticed the poster of “not-Saddam” at the start as well. Not sure why they wouldn’t use a picture of Saddam (after all, he was mentioned by name later), my only guess is that perhaps that was meant to be one of the Hussein, Jr’s: Uday or Qusay.
Good to know the button has a grace period. 🙂 Did anybody expect to reveal the big secret about the button? That’s something for a season-ending cliffhanger.
With that cold act, Sawyer is now almost certainly beyond redemption…poor froggy. ☹ Can’t help but think that the writers are building up his character to a nasty climax before the season is out. But with who… Jack, Sayid, Locke, Kate?

So, last week Locke was so timid about taking any action that he did a Really Stupid Thing to prevent it. And he was so certain that Jack could quickly get into the armory that he did a Really Stupid Thing.
This week, he’s so reckless that he happily tortures a possibly innocent man, and assumes that Jack won’t be able to break into the armory.
Riiiiiiiiiight.
And Sawyer, having betrayed the trust of everyone and perhaps greatly endagered them, is being punished by… being glared at.
On the plus side, I liked Sayid’s flashbacks a lot.

Could it be a heiroglyphic anagram for “Swan?” Or am I reaching? If it DOES spell out “swan” then…well, that’s not very interesting, really.
What I meant earlier was that the red symbols are not THE Dharma symbols (the swan, the arrow, the medical-symbol thing, etc.), but they could still represent the Dharma stations in some other way. Except I think there are only five numbers on the counter and a total of six Dharma stations, including Swan.

Seems to me that Sayid didn’t do much torturing of Uncle Henry - he just talked to him in an ominous way then started whaling the crap out of him. Not that a beating is nothing, but Sawyer got it worse with the fingernail spikes…that still gives me the jibblies.

You know, I was kind of giving ol’ Henry the benefit of the doubt here and assuming he was who he said he was – I figured our favorite castaways were just starting to get the Ren-and-Stimpy-style space madness. But you could be on to something here. Except, didn’t he say that his wife’s name was Jennifer (instead of, say, Emily or Margaret)? Or could that be to throw us off the trail of Bad Guy Names Appropriated From Literature?
