I was under the impression that the whole army idea never really got off the ground. You mentioned the three most likely cantidates (Kate & Eko being up there as well) and without any of those folks, well, you got a pretty lame army. Unless the “army” is really just a posse so that Jack can assert his will on the Lost-aways…_shakes fist at Jack_

I’m beginning to think that before too long Jack is going to start rolling steel balls in his fingers and counting the strawberries in the hatch pantry. Sayid and ocke are going to be the ones in control before Jack finally snaps.

Now I’m wondering if the “incident” that was referenced in the film is something that occurred to the Others, turning them into what they are. And that they are interested in whether the same will happen to the castaways as well.

Non-metallic _minerals_ is what I heard. Talc, quartz, calcite…wow, how about that, first [hit](http://website.lineone.net/~webrex/commonmins.html) from Google is very helpful.
Not sure what the significance of that in the big picture is…odd choice for it to be nothing…maybe Dharma was involved in the asbestos removal business…the button merely is keeping a lid on an asbestos landfill. 😉

Sorry for the off the cuff descriptions, I had about 1.2 seconds to pause before my roommate was screaming at me to press play.
**Baraqiyal’s** link exactly matched the images shown, and it makes sense in context. It really doesn’t reveal that much anyways. Desmond could have told us that letting the timer run out was “cause to die”. Speaking of which, is anyone else wondering what he’s up to, where he is, what else he knows?

Not-metallic minerals does make a lot more sense. If someone had said non-metallic metals to me, I might have gotten out my pliers.

They sure looked like Egyptian hierogliphics to me, but I haven’t done an HD freeze-frame yet. I figure one the folks over at [tailsection.com](http://tailsection.com) will have it all figure out this AM.
Great, great episode. I don’t believe Balloon-Man for a second. He did look awfully smug at the end.
Who was the girl in the photo? I thought it looked like Kate. And I’m sure there will be ramifications for killing Kermit.

here’s my list of possibilities for not pressing the button:
1. launches a doomsday device that wipes the planet clean.
2. activates an island-destroying weapon of some sort.
3. initiates some sort of communication device that calls Opal to say hello.
