# Lost 2.20: "Two for the Road"

I wonder if problems like this arise because movie/tv producers have skewed ideas as to what women of any given age look like. That is, with the great emphasis on looking young, the wide use and acceptance of cosmetic surgery – and other treatments – and the relative abundance of money able to be devoted to self-care, the appearance of an ‘average’ actress is MUCH younger than the appearance of an ‘average’ woman the same age.
So, if you are used to seeing 60 year old actresses that look 40, and 50 year olds that look thirty five, I don’t find it hard to imagine setting out to cast an actress to the role of a ~40 year old mother for Claire and ending up with a woman that looks to non-Hollywood-tuned eyes as too young to be believable in the part.
IOW, yes, I personally think the producers expect us to ‘guess’ that that woman is Claire’s mother and thus Jack and Claire are half-sibs. Another reason to jump to that idea: a previous relationship & another child would explain why his father went all the way to Australia after being estranged from Jack.

I just wanted to mention that Michelle Rodriguez’s sentence for DWI now makes a lot more sense to me. She took 5 days in jail over community service (I think 250 hours). She doesn’t live in Hawaii and she knew she wasn’t going to work there anymore even though we didn’t at the time. 250 hours of community service can take a lot longer than 5 days in lockup. She wanted to get it out of the way so she could get back to LA and try to get another job.

I think she’d make a great weekday afternoon talk show host. Oprah, Ellen… Michelle!! 🙂

Are you trying to say that Jack failed in his attempt to trade Henry for Walt, so Michael made a deal to trade Henry for Walt?
Because that makes no sense.

Well, we KNOW that he went to Australia to see his other child. That’s not in question. We could hear him say “she’s my daughter”. The only question is whether or not that daughter is someone we already know, or, more realistically, which of the people we already know she is.

You say Jack was planning to trade Henry for Michael. That is wrong. Jack went to the “line” to trade Henry for Walt. Does that make sense? Jack had no reason to believe that Michael was captured by the Others, he was told by Zeke that Michael would never find them, therefore he never even thought to trade for Michael, he was trading for Walt. Does that make sense? The trade did not work because Jack did not come back with Walt. Does that make sense? Now we get into speculation because we have seen what Michael did but we don’t know his motivation. Maybe he was brainwashed to Kill Crush Destroy or Henry is using some sort of mind control. I don’t think so. Michael is so desperate (and guilty) that he is willing to do just about anything for his son. Maybe Zeke had a gun up to Walt’s head. Maybe he promised Michael they could have their own teepee together. Maybe he asked Michael to go in and rescue Henry and he would let Walt go. Not a straight trade. He wanted Michael to go in and create havoc. His plan might not be complete, there may be other hoops Michael has to jump through. Of course I don’t think he will ever get Walt from them because he is too important. When I say Zeke it may be the unseen Boss that Henry was talking about.
