BTW, did anyone notice that Hurley’s infamous luck still holds? He was the only one released, while his friends were kept in captivity.

I like the idea that the hatch magnet was hiding the island somehow, either by dimensional pocketing (not probable but possible) or just compass funking (may explain why Desmond went west but wound up circling back to the Island).

I didn’t think their plan was that poor. Small numbers make it harder to spot, and they thought they knew about the trap and thought the others didn’t think they would know about the trap. Even the small group would’ve been able to get Walt freed if they went in prepared and armed.

I did like how the Others stayed yet another step ahead of the lostaways.

Maybe the big flash of light merged Eko and Locke. Locko? Ekocke? Yeah. Probably not. 😛

That’s the thing that’s been pissing me off all season - aside from Charlie’s “What, they aren’t back yet?” when asked about Eko and Locke, he can’t be arsed to tell anyone that they might still be trapped in the hatch?

And when Locke & Eko find another hatch, they can’t tell anyone about it til Locke tells Desmond?

For a group that should be working together just to survive, they’re oddly uncommunicative. Drives me batshit insane. No, I’ll just keep quiet about my big discovery until SOMETHING REALLY BAD happens and I don’t have a choice. Nobody will call me out for keeping secrets anyway, even when I cause mayhem because of it.

I’m sorry, but the moment I saw Sayer go down I would have killed Michael. No hesitation.

I know I’m a vengeful son of a bitch, but there is no way Michael would have survived the ambush.

probable sidebar moment here, but among the many things about _Lost_ that are bugging me:

1. (paraphrasing here) “The electromagnetic forces build up. We press the button every 108 minutes to drain them off.” ooookay… exactly HOW does one drain off electromagnet forces? can someone give me a physics clue or two?

2a) anybody get a screencap of the back of the _Elizabeth_? i didn’t study it, but got the fleeting impression that it named an East Coast city as port-of-origin. anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

2b) and if that is, indeed, the case, and Libby meets Desmond on the East Coast, i start to wonder: did we ever get any clues as to where Hurley lived? unless Libby took to traveling and flipped out/went into mega-depression over lost hubby somewhere else in the U.S., that implies that Hurley also lived on the East Coast (since they wound up in the same mental health facility and all).

1. (this is simply nit-picky, so i don’t have to go into “Hi, Opal” territory".) is it in any way significant that there was one foot of some supposedly large statue located on a rocky outcropping, but there didn’t seem to be any logical base for the presumably missing **other** foot to have rested on? maybe we’re supposed to assume that either the statue was so incredibly big that the other base wasn’t nearby, or that the base itself had disappeared with the rest of the statue. however, _my_ vote is for a deliberate mindgame (whether by the Dharma group, the Others, or parties yet unknown) – meaning that THERE WAS NEVER MORE TO THE STATUE THAN WHAT WE SEE RIGHT NOW. and the anatomy weirdness is also deliberate.

When Desmond and Libby were talking in the Coffee shop, she called her late husband “David.” Do you think this is the same Dave that was in the Hurley episode when he has the hallucinations? Were they really hallucinations?

Didn’t we see Kelvin talking to Ethan in the medical hatch during Claire’s flashback? S o that would mean that he didn’t die. Did he get recruited into the Others or was all that with Desmond some sort of ruse? Am I remembering Claire’s flashback correctly?

Hmm, and don’t forget, Desmond said something like, “We’re in a damned snow-globe!”

I have a tickle in my brain that there is a mythological/literary precedent for not being able to go back to a place once you leave, but I’m not able to remember any specifics - can anyone help out?

Did anyone else have an \*Arrested Development \* flashback when Locke admitted he was wrong? I practically heard him say, “I’ve made a huge mistake.” 🙂

It is interesting that the Others call themselves the good guys, and gave us some evidence to support that, in apparently living up to the deal with Michael. I suppose if you were good, you could have a real justification for kidnapping people (ferinstance rescuing someone from a cult), but Ethan offing a Lostie really seems to put the kibosh on the whole “goodness” thing.

I just rewatched a bit, and noticed Eko was carving “922” on his stick. Is that why he’s so absolutely sure about the button? Did he make the connection before Desmond did? Seems unlikely.

No kidding. Stop throwing ammo at a target you can’t see, and blow away the one you can. Then they didn’t even have the common decency to blow up that damn boat. Michael’s not even smart enough to check the loading of his pistol when he accepted it from Jack. He needs to be killed off, painfully.

Gale had a very enigmatic expression on his face during the violet sky incident. Is he curious or pissed off?

I didn’t see anyone answer this, so I’ll try. The plane containing Eko’s brother was right on top of the hatch to the Pearl station. He’s a man of faith, so I think he sees this as a sign from God. Locke, on the other hand, came away from the Pearl station believing there was no purpose to pressing the button. The whole faith vs. science thing is a theme here. (There was a black vs white theme in the first season, but they seem to have dropped that.)

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, too. Even if the Others had some good reason to kidnap the crash survivors, what possible justification could Ethan have had to beat Scott to death? (Or was it Steve?)

They’ve later implied that you don’t cross “HIM”, so it may be that Ethan went off the deep end to get Clair back, and was willing to do whatever it took to do so.

Similar to the situation that Micheal was in…

Scott and Steve are two guys who have never really been identified, but all of Our Heros have consistently mixed them up. Basically, whenever someone refers to Steve someone else will correct them and say “You mean Scott”. Running joke.

As for Scott (Steve?) being killed, Ethan killed one of them (smashed all his bones) during his “I’ll kill one of you every night until I get Claire back” phase.
