So what did the failsafe key do? I assumed it was a massive explosion that destroyed the electromagnetic anomaly, but Charlie was pretty close to it and he walked away. We don’t know the fates of Desmond, Locke or Eko. ---

Arriving much later than intended… If Locke had seen that pile of unread notebooks from the tube, he absolutely would have imploded. And there was something really creepy and depressing about the whole thing to me; people were recording everything, sending it off to be read, and it all winds up in a dogpile in the middle of a clearing on a freaky island. “David Hume” sounds so familiar. Who was he IRL? I’m sure others have noted this already, but there is no frikkin’ way that Michael and Waaaaallllt are going to make it out of there. The Others/Whatevers wanted Walt and were making him take tests and so on. They’re not about to let him go that easily. Why did Des follow Kelvin’s orders at all? Kelvin wasn’t the boss of him; he’s just a guy that dragged him into a hatch and manipulated him. Did you notice that My Bay-Bay wasn’t crying at all after the noise ended, though he appeared to be wailing while the sky was lit up in violet and white? Someone give Henry Ian Cusick an Emmy or at least a nomination. He hasn’t been on a lot, I know, but his performances have been very strong. ---

Heh, I just read the article on Hume earlier. I chuckled when it mentioned that Hume and Jean-Jacques **Rousseau** met and became friends, but later had a falling out. ---

I need to rewatch this episode to ge the sequence down, but I thought the yellow sky, ear piercinig phenomenon was stopped by the failsafe key, and that we were just seeing the longer effects of the magnet “overload” this time. ---

Lachesis in post 126 already mentioned one of my theories. I think the initials S.R. in the tube report referred to Kelvin’s partner, whose name was Ratzinski or something like that. The snowglobe comment was a nod from the writers. Others (not _The_ Others) have speculated that everything is happening inside one character’s head, this is a Snowglobe Theory because it is how the series St. Elsewhere ended when everything was explained away as happening in the imagination of an autistic kid who was staring at a snowglobe. The writers seem to enjoy teasing us with these things. They also had someone mention aliens. ---

It might even be spelled Rudzinski or something like that. ---
