# Lost 2.4: "Everybody Hates Hugo" (OPEN SPOILERS)

Stand back people … I Have a Theory.
There is a good reason Hurley doesn’t want to be in conflict with other people. Bad things only happen to people who have been mean to him!
Originally we saw the mom’s death as purely sad, and the meteor striking the chicken joint as a coincidence. However, as was revealed in today’s episode, the mom was always tormenting him, and he loathed the chicken job. Perhaps he had grudges against the other people who had bad luck. Without having actively wished for their death, he feels responsible after the fact. Now he fears all negative interactions will have deadly consequences.

Well, the easiest thing is to simply click on the “Reply” button in the bottom right corner of the post you want to quote.
To do it manually, type {QUOTE=Alliex}stuff you are quoting{/QUOTE}, but replace the curly brackets with square brackets.

Here’s a massive monkey wrench to throw into the works.
A friend of mind just told me about an article that was recently in TV Guide about Lost. Among other things, it says that they never tell us when the “flashbacks” occur because at least some of them could actually be taking place in the future, after they get off the island. :eek: They mention Sawyer’s reading A Wrinkle In Time in connection with this.
Time to reevaluate every episode, I guess.

Wow…if your theory is right I’ll bet the guy falling past the window when Hurley was visiting his finance guy…was his and Locke’s boss!

Ok, I can could buy that to some degree. My personal take on the “visions” were that they were some sort of symbolic message from the subconscious or perhaps from somewhere/thing/one else. (There _were_ parapsychology experiments being conducted on the island)
The vision of Watery Walt saying “push the button, don’t push button bad” preceded the actual discovery of the button, I believe. Aw hell, I don’t know. The mind boggles.

I’m not sure one way or the other. The point though is that the shelves all looked full to me. If someone or someones had been cut off in that facility for years (how many years?) then the shelves would be depleted…even if there were years of food left. Maybe as another poster said there are other rooms we haven’t seen yet, but usually you don’t have multiple store rooms of food scattered around a facility like that one…you have one large central store room for food, maybe another for weapons, etc. I’m probably reading too much into this, but when I saw the scene and when Hurley told Jack (IIRC) that there was enough food for one person for 3 months…well, it struck a serious discordant note with me. For one thing I didn’t see Desmond being very anxious about the food situation. Myself, if I were cut off in a facility like that on some gods forsaken island and I knew there was only 3 months of food left I’d be taking steps to figure out what the hell I was going to be eating 4 months from now.
Again, I’m probably reading more into it than is there.

Hurley’s mom died? I thought it was his grandfather who died. I thought we just saw his mother twist her ankle the same time that Hurley’s house caught on fire.

Am I the only one who is thinking a lot of people from the back of the plane have died from “the disease” that French lady told us about?
Then again, that wouldn’t explain why they were so untrusting of Michael, Jin, and Sawyer. They must have thought they might have been others.

Jin’s first flashback episode was called, “… in translation”.

Hurley’s mom broke her ankle, but she didn’t die.
