Just to stir the pot further: Does anybody have any guesses where the children that were stolen from the “tailies” back in season 2 are being kept? Episode 1 of this season showed the “Other’s” living in suburbia watching the plane crash. Benry tells the infiltrator that the plane crash is 20-30 minutes away. That tells me they were on the same island as the Losties. Does anybody think that the “Others” might have always known about the island where they are now, but chose to live in suburbia because they didn’t need to be there? Now maybe that the “Losties” are around they had to abandon their houses and go to the Dharma Island to do experiments? I agree, this was a great episode, 15 to go! MtM ---

[/QUOTE] No idea where the kids are being held, but they ARE being held somewhere. Did you see that “sneak peak” or whatever where… Jack is sleeping outside in the cage and Cindy (the abducted stewardess) approaches him, friendly as can be about how nice The Others are? There were other people and children behind her, there “to watch” something. But yes, I think The Others live in their little town on the main island, but always knew about Hydra and are just there to keep the Losties away from their little town. I doubt they’ve abandoned anything though… for all we know, there’s an underground tunnel connecting the islands and they go back to the suburbs every night to sleep after torturing the poor Losties. We know they have a sub… it may only be a half hour commute back and forth. ---

He was already locked up when Sawyer woke up, but he then broke out and helped Sawyer get out too. After that he was dragged away, presumably to the bizarro room they found him in. ---

My assumption with Karl was that he was a plant–they just put him there to break Sawyer out so they could mess with Sawyer’s head. Now, I’m thinking, he was late to Book Club meetings one time too many. ---

Also, we should soon see a transcript of the backwards-talk messages that Karl was subjected to. Lostpedia is good resource for that-- for example, it has a transcription of all the “whispers” that have been played. ---

Did anyone else feel like the pre-show took more away than it added? I felt like the two talking heads up there were basically saying that there is no plan, no overall arc, they don’t know WTF is going on, and we should stop looking for clues because they have absolutely no bearing on the show. They went on and on about the fact that some strange things happen on the ‘extraordinary’ island but those things could all be safely ignored because the show was about the characters. It sounded to me like they were copping out. I was kinda pissed at the end of the pre-show. ( I was more pissed at the end of the episode but I didn’t come here to ‘threadcrap’.) ---

I had thought they were going to be an overarching plot device, but it looks like another dead end. That being said, this show sucked me back in last night. Speaking of Lostpedia, this is from the page on last night’s episode. No spoilers: Trivia • When Juliet opens the curtains in Miami, a plane with the Oceanic logo flies by. • The medicine Juliet tests on her sister is labeled “TEST SAMPLE A4993-E3”. • Rachel’s pregnancy test is from Widmore. • The bus that hits Edmund has an ad for Apollo candy bars. • Juliet says she has been on the island for 3 years, 2 months, and 28 days, which would make her arrival time September 5th, 2001. • Desmond’s shipwreck occurred within a few months of her arrival at the island. • A Room 23 video frame has the phrase “Plant a good seed and you will joyfully gather fruit”, which is from the Buddhist text Dhammapada. Some of other sayings also appear to resemble Buddhist precepts such as the Four Noble Truths. • Sawyer calls Alex “Sheena” and “Lollipop.” Cultural references • Aldo was reading A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. • Sawyer tells Aldo that he’s the victim of the “Wookiee Prisoner Gag”, which is a reference to Star Wars. • The Room 23 set up is reminiscent of the Ludovico technique in the film A Clockwork Orange. • Rachel (Juliet’s sister) who is being treated for fertility problems shares her name with the Biblical character Rachel who also initially had fertility problems (Genesis 30:1). Rachel was also the favored wife of Jacob. ---

Sure enough, you can see the bus prepositioned up the street before Ed steps off the curb. Cracked me right up. ---
