Was there any significance to the years, months, weeks, days, seconds, etc; that Juliet has been on the island? ---

[/QUOTE] If you think about the sequence of events that unquestionably took place in Miami, then it seems impossible for the opening scene to have been on the island. For instance, the two encounters with Ethan. If you want to bet, I’m game, but I don’t know how we can be assured that this issue will ever be addressed again. ---

I mean, it’s on the same planet. Probably. P.S. - It’s not LOST TIME, it’s TIME LOST. As in Marcel Proust. ---

What are Proust’s main themes/struggles here? If anyone’s read it, that is. Wikipedia can give us a summary, but as for specific tie ins, theories, etc., well, probably not. ---

[/QUOTE] I’m thinking that the first scene actually happened later in real time. The sister looks sicker as if her cancer had progressed. Juliette walks out into the drab hallway and and greets Ethan with a nod. The scene Rachel informs Juliet of her pregnancy happened earlier in Miami. I’m thinking that the timeline will be borne out in yet another flashback. But then again, we are talking about _Lost_ so anything is possible. ---

I saw Juliet greeting Ethan in the opening sequence with just a pleasant wave that you would give to any non-threatening stranger you pass in the hallway. ---

Also, when Juliet sees Ethan at the interview, she mentions having seen him earlier in the hallway. ---

I believe ABC is allowed to have only one show with a character who is a transsexual (Ugly Betty). I believe that Juliet’s sister was impregnated by just getting an injection of some kind and not through artificial insemination. Maybe it’s a form of parthenogenesis that Juliet has developed. Juliet obviously misses his sister or her child. She was crying in front of a mirror when we first saw her this season. ---

I think it would be a fairly simple task for Dharma to setup a display in the window with a Miami scene, complete with sound effects.
