Claire definitely has some sort of cut/scratch on her chin. Terry O’Quinn has that big slash over his eye that _looks_ pretty fresh (but I’m pretty sure I saw him on the plane, I’ll watch again this weekend). I think you’re right about Hurley’s eye. But I also think that somebody diabolical enough to insinuate themselves into the group would also have the presence of mind to bust themselves up a little, first.

Man, I really am loving this show! I love everything about it so far. I can’t wait to learn more about these interesting characters.

Regarding the Polar Bear as a source of meat, the hikers do not want to tell the others about their discovery, for fear of causing panic. The previews for next weeks show hint at this. They will try to hunt/forage for for other food first. I hope they don’t forget about fresh water!

One thing is bothering me about the show. How in the hell did so many people survive a plane where the tail of the plane breaks away in mid flight? This was no controlled crash landing. That plane would have to have plummeted straight down from at least 15,000 feet. 😕

Somebody mentioned seeing snow-capped mountains through Kate’s window during her flashback scene. I missed that, but it was there that changes everything!

Where are they?

**LOST**!!

If they are really not telling the other survivors about giant things that rip people out of cockpits 30 feet in the air and reduce them to a bloody pulp and rampaging polar bears in the jungle because they don’t want them to panic, that is really thoughtless. Hey, they’ve already been through major panic what’s a little more? It would be nice to warn people not to wander around in the woods too much and why they shouldn’t instead of waiting until the last minute and saying “oh, by the way, you might really want to run away now.”

I hear ya Mr. Coyote. It’s a dubious decision. I think it will just be a temporary one. After a couple more weeks (real time) on the island, they will probably tell everyone. They can’t keep that secret(s) for very long. Besides, everyone knows “something” is out there anyway. 😉

I think everybody’s heard the noises and understands the “run away” concept pretty clearly. I got the impression, though, that what they weren’t going to tell the others was that there was some French lady trapped on the island sixteen years ago.

:smack:

Doh! Yeah, I think you are right Draelin. That would make more sense. Still, I wonder, If they didn’t tell the others about the “thing” that killed the pilot, would they tell the others about large, charging, Polar Bears?

Oooo, this show has so many twists and turns…I love it!

I think the Korean guy has realized that after one night alone in the woods, he’s gotta make some friends, and a good way to do that is by offering food. But he’s extremely uptight-- probably belongs to a hardass end-of-the-world religious cult, or something like that.

I’ll try to listen to my tape again, but I’m pretty sure the voice on the radio was saying “He killed them all”, and not just “they’re all dead.” But Toenails is completely useless, arrogant, and afraid if she gets that upset being asked to _listen to French_. My bet is that the transmitter is hooked to some kind of windmill/power crank at the top of the peak.

Okay, if I ever get trapped on an island with people I sure hope they don’t have the “what they don’t know won’t hurt them” mentality. Although, if they look like Matthew Fox, Dom Monaghan, Lifeguard guy and some of the others maybe I won’t mind too much. Should they eventually decide to tell me the bad news they could always soften the blow by taking off their shirts first. 😉

Sorry, I digress.
BTW, it’s Ms. Coyote.

Actually, that was my second thought after: “How freaking lucky was he to drop a polar bear with five or six shots from that pistol.”

**Rubystreak**'s theory is the one I intended to post after an earlier poster noted the white bear in the comic (I believe it was the JLA/JSA crossover from 2000).

I, too, think it could be an “imagination” monster conjured by imagery. My advice: don’t open a bag of Stay Puffed Marshmellows!

Was there any imagery from the first episode that could have moved the trees?

Maybe when they were in the plane, they were attacked by a “brown horse.” 😉

Well, Kate being a criminal and fugitive, it kinda makes sense that she wouldn’t be too keen on someone in the party being armed. I am _really_ hoping they dont go with the “noble criminal with a heart of gold” route for Kate. They don’t seem to be afraid of flawed characters, so I have some hope they won’t wuss out on making her less likable.

Is that a joke? I couldn’t tell from the reply that followed immediately afterwards.

I believe the transmission said _it_ killed them all. Either way, given that the girl’s French isn’t that good, nitpicking words doesn’t really matter.

Seriously, why wouldn’t that be a viable option? Would the fall somehow cause the meat to be inedible?

Hell, whatever damage it would do wouldn’t make the meat as inedible as if it were STILL ON THE MOUNTAIN!

The polar bear probably weighs something on the order of a thousand pounds, so how are they going to move it five feet, let alone over the cliff?

I recall at least six people on the hiking trip. You don’t think they could all push, roll or drag 166 2/3 pounds?

Does anyone here understand French? I’d be keen to know if any of the transmission really was audible and understandable as such.

Six people could move it, particularly since two of them were fairly good size men.

No, six people couldn’t move a 1000 pound dead animal along soft ground. A 1000 pound sled with handles for everyone along even ground. . .maybe. Not a dead animal. Not even a 1000 pound rock, and that would be easier.

It wasn’t on the side of the mountain anyway. It was in a clearing that had trees around and was basically flat.

Who said a windmill generating power?

This isn’t Gilligan’s Island. Powering a transmitter is not the same as grinding corn. A windmill generates electricity using turbines. Where do you think they got one of those.

The Korean guy _probably_ belongs to an end-of-the-world cult? That makes more sense than he’s being overly protective of her because they’re on a deserted island.

This show inspires a lot of “wild ass guessing” but I have to say that, apparently, not all “wild ass guesses” are created equal.
