So is the consensus of opinion (for whatever that’s worth) that all the characters currently on the main island are there at the same time, 2004?

Are there any characters currently on the other island?

I think you mean 2007 (for the characters on the island, that is).

Yes, the ones on the island should be back in 2007, those on the plane are in 2004 (as there was a 3 year time when they were off the island).

It seemed as if she was referring to 2 different Oceanic flights, even if she didn’t say that. The first flight was what we saw in the Pilot and second is what we saw last night. It was like she was aware of both flights.

Regarding Hurley’s luck:
The guy that Hurley got the numbers from heard them around 1988. But if the island was blown up in the '70’s, then the numbers wouldn’t have been transmitted. So Hurley never heard the numbers, never got the bad luck, and must have won the lottery with different numbers.

Regarding Juliet’s “it worked”:
Just before Juliet died, she was saying random things, a lot like Charlotte, who was jumping through time. I’m think she was jumping back and forth between the Crash and No-Crash timelines. Maybe in the no-crash timeline (where she never would’ve gone ot the island) she ended up meeting with Sawyer and asking him to coffee. Which would explain how she would know that it worked. I’m wonder if Sayid had a similar experience during his “death.”

Also, they need to take Miles to Boone’s grave site so we can find out what he was gonna tell Shannon. Or is there a statute of limitation on his powers?

Anything regarding future episodes is a spoiler. Yeah, titles aren’t a huge deal most of the time (but some can be), but it only takes a couple seconds to make a spoiler tag.

I read a theory on another website, and the more I think about it, the more plausible it seems: what if the timeline where the plane _didn’t_ crash is the _original_ timeline and not the other way around? What if Jacob orchestrated the events leading to the crash of flight 815 because he knew all kinds of bad shit would happen if the plane landed safely in LA? Things are already going downhill fast for the LA timeline folks, and are likely to get worse. We may now be seeing the events Jacob was trying to prevent by creating a seperate timeline where the plane crashed on the Island.

I’m not sure how all that would connect with Juliet setting off the bomb, though. Unless that’s just a red herring. (No! On this show??) Maybe the bomb _didn’t_ go off, and the white flash we saw at the end of the finale was just a “time jump” flash like what happened several times before. They all jumped forward to 2007 and assumed the bomb had something to do with it, but maybe it didn’t.

Head . . . hurts . . .

I was going to wait to see if the answer to this show was any good before I watched it. But my brother got me into it. I found the first season boring, but I did the time, because it was time spent with my brother. The end of last season was it’s best, (for me), and the show keeps getting better in my opinion.

I’m glad the show’s done with the individual’s back story’s about their past, although I can see why they’ve been implemented the way they had in the first season. You needed to know where the characters were coming from, but the show was about the island. It was just a little boring for me to have to get to know all these people.

I’m a “casual LOST fan”, in that I wont miss an episode, but I’m not driven to see what the Internet fanbase thinks is going on, or watch all the online content… at best I may see the show again the next day.

I think last night’s episode was my favorite so far.

I’m not so worried about the ‘answer’ these days. The time I invested in the show makes it so I know where everyone is at this point. I know their past, and enough about what’s going on with the island, that the episodes are entertaining and interesting on their own.

I don’t need the answer to be anything but consistent with the show’s own, (parallel) , universe(s).

In the alternate timeline, the island is underwater. I’m not sure that would be better.

> [@RikWriter](#):

Exactly.

I agree with Monstre’s #3 that it’s all going to be about two diverged timelines and somehow reconciling them. Whether or not it will involve a threat to the entire universe if they don’t get reconciled, well, who knows.

I remember reading or seeing recently (I watched the recap and read a bunch of interviews with Lindeloff and Cuse before the premiere) that the big problem with the brain-melting of the time jumps was that the people doing so had more and more trouble keeping their different time periods seperated in their heads. Eventually their brain would basically melt down.

I think the same thing is going to start happening with the diverged timelines. Things are going to start bleeding over between the two timelines. Jack’s bloody neck, Charlie’s “I was supposed to die!”, Sawyer and Kate hitting it off, and the like. I bet at some point Jin is going to inexplicably bust out with some English while he’s being interrogated.

The big one, of course, is Desmond. He’s actually the one guy who could manage to deal with it all safely because of his previous experience and his having successfully found his “Constant”. Why was he on the plane? Well, he could either have actually been there and done some timeline-hopping, or he could instead be projecting himself, which is of course something we’ve seen a whole bunch over the course of the series.

As for people complaining about the Temple being introduced, well, the Temple has been around a long time. Apart from that, we’ve known it was controlled by The Others. So, apart from some actual new faces, unless we start having flashbacks for those people I don’t see any reason to complain.

Finally, some people mentioned that there was a circle of ash around the cabin, yet the BSM had been on the loose for some time. That’s true, but so what? Ilana said that the cabin had been empty for some time. And she found that the circle was broken. It was a BIG circle. Maybe nobody else noticed it was broken in several years? Only Ben and Richard even KNEW about the cabin!

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof were on _Jimmy Kimmel_ last night. They revealed some stuff about what is “coincidence” and what was planned (such as Shannon not being on the plane).

I can’t find any place that has the interview written out, so I’ll write the questions and answers here (closely paraphrased).

Everything is double spoilered…if you want NO answers don’t open the spoiler. If you want to pick and choose what answers you see, open the first spoiler to see the questions Jimmy asked, with the answers hidden. There’s also a promo spoiler in there for anyone avoiding promos altogether that is triple-protected - you don’t see the question (that includes promo information) unless you choose.

**As soon as we see Charlie, Desmond disappears**

Coincidence

**Michael and Walt were not on the plane**

Fate

**Shannon was not on the plane**

Not a coincidence (“we hope to see Shannon this year”)

**The premiere of Lost happens on Groundhog Day, and in the show stuff that already happened is happening again**

Coincidence 🙂

**There is a space between LA and X in the show’s title**

Planned

**The meal on the flight was lasagna**

It was vegetarian lasagna!

**On this flight, Rose is calm and Jack is nervous. On the original flight, it was the other way.**

Absolutely not a coincidence.

**Jack spills his vodka while pouring his drink**

Not a coincidence. And he also has one less bottle of vodka than the original flight.

**Hurley picks up a book by Kierkegaard**

That’s intentional, but we are very careful about what books we choose. They all go with the theme of the show and if you’re really obsessed you can read the books and learn a little bit more about what we’re doing thematically.

**True or false: the smoke monster represents our dependence on foreign oil**

That’s actually partially true. Well, and totally false.

**Are we done with the numbers on the show or are the numbers coming back?**

You’re going to get a good dose of the numbers in the next few weeks.

**Is John Locke possessed by the man in black?**

No…well, you actually saw a big bit of information about John Locke…he revealed that he was the smoke monster tonight [boos from audience, at the taping before the show’s airing!]

**It seemed obvious that Jacob is inhabiting the body of Sayid**

Interesting…it seemed _something_ is inhabiting the body of Sayid.

**PROMO SPOILER:**

**I saw in promos that Sayid is being burned on a table and saying ‘why are you doing this to me?’…which seems like it wouldn’t happen if Jacob was in the body of Sayid**

You might watch a few more episodes, your theory will evolve a little further.

And, in case you didn’t know, the last episode of the show is Sunday, May 23.

It could be that the writers wants us to **think** that’s what caused the island to be submerged.

Besides, and I know this isn’t a typical island we’re talking about (because it can be moved), islands don’t float. So it’s not like it can be sunk. And most of the ruins of the island looked pretty intact for an H-bomb going off. (and how horrible was that CG… Yeek.)

Color me skeptical that the reason the island is underwater is because of the bomb.

Couple of things…

I remember Ben referring to the temple way back in season 3 I believe (it might have been 2 or maybe even 4!). I think he just escaped from the hatch and met up with the “Others”.

They were at a Other’s camp by the water. Ben said to either the stewardess chick or Ben’s gay side-kick guy something to the effect of “take everyone back to the temple, they (the Losties) were coming”. When the Losties showed up they found an empty camp with “fake structures” (I specifically remember seeing a "fake"doorway on the face of a rock that they opened only to find solid rock on the other side).

So I think we can assume Ben has also been to the Temple.

Also, 2 or 3 season’s back didn’t we see someone (maybe Ben again) creating a circle of ash some where on the island? Maybe when Ben first took Locke to see Jacob at the cabin?

Overall a very solid episode, and again (in typical “Lost” fashion) it created more questions than it asked.

I was a little disappointed with the beginning of the episode. The first 3-4 minutes of the first episode of seasons 2 and 3 totally blew me away, this one was meh.

EW had a decent Lost article, and the producers said it was weird actually having to write scripts now where they’re answering all of these mysteries and big questions instead of creating new one’s.

I thought the circle was to keep the monster away from Jacob’s cabin, not to keep the monster in the cabin.
