Hmmm, don’t think so. You’re right – they’re really pricey. They also seem to have a noise cancellation factor of about 23, which is less than the ordinary foam earplugs from the drug store (29), which don’t do the job. Thanks for the link, though.
I feel your pain, MLS. I was at Best Buy Saturday and I nearly had to run screaming from the joint. Umpteen stereos blasting at full volume, a gazillion loud TVs, screaming kids…ARRGGHHHHH! I like to rock out with the best of 'em, but this shit is too much. Luckily, I could leave. The only thing I’ve ever used to combat noise is those little foam thingys for when you go shooting. Sorry all I did was vent.
Yeah, what is it with people who absolutely have to have screaming noise everywhere? I’m talking about what’s on the speakers, not the bratty kids. Back in the day, when I had to accompany my daughters on shopping trips, they knew they had about 10 minutes, tops, in any of the clothing stores they liked. After that, it was time to go because Mom was getting so irritated at the noise that she would buy nothing.
but they also produce their own sound to mask out the ambience.
Alas, too expensive for me.
We bought for the kiddies for 4th of July fireworks, headphone things that are for gun ranges and big people. Our son hates loud noises. They were about $30 a peice, but they worked excellent.
I also hate gyms or bars with ultra loud music. And, the rule is the more youhate the music, the louder it is. Just once, just ONCE, I’d like to hear classical music at a gym or bar. It is not productive to have your clients shouting at each other to be heard. I’ve never understood this bizarre philosophy.
I wear them on my tractor and it’s amazing that I don’t have that dazed feeling after mowing anymore. I would suspect them being great for air travel.
They are very highly, highly rated ( not Bose standard, we are but simple poor folk.) and I will look to see if I can find them in the disaster known as our Garage.
Found them . They are passive hearing protection with an M-31 rating…which means it is the highest level for this kind of protection.
