I have some 5W speakers for my ipod, but they just don’t make it in the dorm environment with a bunch of people around. Where can I find some speakers that can easily hook up to my ipod and give me fairly loud music?

You can connect an iPod to pretty much anything with the correct type of cable… TV, stereo, desktop monitor with speakers, computer speakers.

Get headphones. There is nothing worse than someone in the Dorms playing loud music.

The iPod can’t drive very powerful speakers on its own, so you’ll need a stereo system of some kind to get any appreciable sound. I’ll agree with the suggestion to get headphones, though.

How about some [amplified speakers](http://www.daydeal.com/FoldUp_Amplified_Portable_Speakers_for_MP3_and_Music_Players-p-9506.html)?

I picked up a set of “computer speakers” that had really nice sound and a compact subwoofer for under $50, and they’ll easily fill a room with sound using the iPod. They plug into the wall. I’ve never found battery powered speakers that generate decent sound, and the ones that run off of the iPod’s battery are useless.
