Gotta say I’m saddened, but not particularly surprised. Attitudes like that are just too damn common down here.

The article didn’t give too many details. Did the store also sell the home improvement supplies it claimed to and keep the racist literature in a back room, or what? What happened if a black fellow walked into the store hoping to buy a hammer or something?

It’s worth noting that the man David Duke lost to in that 1991 gubernatorial election, Edwin Edwards, is also currently sitting in a prison cell for financial shenanigans. Gotta love Louisiana politics…

i remember reading about that election. the poor voters… what a choice they had; might as well write in micky mouse.
