# Love Is...

As soon as I first heard the song “Love Is” (a duet by Vanessa Williams and Brian McKnight) in 1993, I knew I had to have it. I bought it in 45 form (apparently they still made them back then). This song tries to capture just about everything the philosophers and poets say about love. “It [love] conquers all” is a quote from Virgil, I think. To me the word Love refers to all that is good in humankind. That’s why I chose a quote from this song for my signature. I strongly recommend this song. It has a beautiful piano solo in it too. What follows are its lyrics. Enjoy!

I’ve always liked the I Corinthians 13 take on love, as a literary piece. People of any or no faith can appreciate its sentiments.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Sorry, **Eutychus**! I didn’t realize this was considered a copyright restriction. I knew sometimes if you gave credit to the writers or performers (as I did), it was allowed. I always strive to follow the rules on this board, so I will be extra careful to not do something like this again.
