I just had a look at the [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Is...) article. The background to the cartoons is pretty sad, actually. The original cartoonist’s husband (on whom the male character is clearly based) died less than five years after they married, and she stopped drawing it when he became ill. Since then it’s been contracted out to some other cartoonist. I still think they suck though. ---

…I don’t get it. I read through a whole bunch of them and they seem to be just as bad, if not worse, than those cheaper-than-average non-brand greeting cards you get at crappy bodegas in a terrible part of town.
