Low-carb high-calorie recipes?

Is the person doing physical therapy? You may find the exercise and toning up the muscles after a week in bed may do the trick all by itself.

He’s not yet up to physical therapy, expected to be in a few weeks. Broken tibias can be tricky, apparently.

But was it answered by trained nutritionists? I passed medical nutrition courses… four decades ago, on a different career track. I haven’t had reason to keep up since. So I’ll make no suggestions here.

I’m leery of asking or offering serious life-affecting advice on open forums. Yes, some above advice may be sound. Is a friend’s life worth the risk that it isn’t?

It doesnt appear to me that the Op is asking for nutritional advice so much as *recipes.

As a Type 2 Diabetic that’s been struggling with steroid induced hypoglycemia* for almost two years and is being treated with, among other things, both long and rapid acting insulin . . . sadly, it don’t work that way.
*A1C of 5.6 before Prednisone, upwards of 10 after!
My endocrinologist ain’t happy about the amount of rapid acting insulin I’m using.

AIUI, it’s preferred to achieve ‘normal’ blood sugars through diet, exercise, and oral medications.
(And, when indicated, injected long acting insulin.)

I have been eating low carb for over 3 years now. It’s a great diet if you wish to lose weight slowly while achieving lot of other health benefits. You can find plenty of recipes if you Google. Low Carb Yum and EatingWell websites have a lot of decent recipes too. Or if you are looking for a cookbook, you may try Angie’s low carb 30 minute meals cookbook.
