Something similar to the OP happened to me at the post office last week. I had a priority letter, stamped and addressed, but did not know where to put it. So I jumped in front of a line of 20 people to ask a five second question–“where can I put this to get mailed?” This guy immediately started going off on me, saying “hey buddy, the back of the line is back here,” yada yada yada. As the postal worker pointed out where to put my letter, I turned around to the guy and said “eat me.” It did escalate the situation but later on I was glad I’d said it. ---

See, there is your problem right there. You should have said, “Eat me, you ingnorant asshole!” which would have gone down much better. 😛 ---

Maybe when you started to go behind him you accidentally pressed your crotch up against his ass, put one hand on his shoulder and did that “ass-slapping” dance motion with the other. Or maybe he wanted you to. ---

THIS is why I always get the pot roast on a rope at places like this. Some guy is standing WAY too close in line. The pot roast goes falling to the floor…you go to pick it up…then BAMMMM… next thing you know the homo storm starts! If you are lucky he uses the free margarine… ---

Sorry to draw this thread slightly OT but, as a non-Texan, can somebody tell me more about Luby’s and why it’s so popular? Judging from some of the posts in this thread, it just seems to be a place featuring self-served “institution food” like you get in schools, hospitals, or prisons. The place doesn’t even sound as good as Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral. Is my mostly ignorant assessment correct? ---

When I go out, which is pretty rare these days, I want to just go out, have a meal, mind my business, and have people leave me alone. If they don’t, I have “issues”. I’ve run into the sort described by the OP. They keep talking their shit, and if it wasn’t you, it would be someone else. I let them run their mouth up to a point. Then I tell them “shut the fuck up”. It’s interesting how “tough” people are, but only “tough” until they see you aren’t scared or impressed. then the back peddling starts. Some people need to be told to shut the fuck up sometimes. ---

I kinda like Luby’s, but I like cafeteria food in general. It offers the speed of fast food with a little more variety. The food was good, the prices reasonable and the clientel was well dressed and well behaved. IMHO, the place was a good step above Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral. Once you get past the serving line it had much more of a nice grade atmosphere than those two places. ---

I may have actually eaten at the OP’s Luby’s. It is definitely cafeteria food – reminded me of grade school being served by lunch ladies, actually. (i.e., nasty food). Old Country Buffet is more for the retired crowd. Golden Corral usually see more families-with-kids. Neither (that I’ve been to) do cafeteria service; they’re more dinner bar or buffet service.
