> I can read in dreams or at least I have done so. Some of the stories are really complex and very good even though they doesn’t exist in the real world. I have tried to make a mental note to remember the story I am reading and transcribe it when I wake up but it always disappears from memory (except for the fact that it was once there and very good) shortly after I wake up.

> They say you can’t get killed in dreams but I have many times - usually by falls or explosions. One typical scenario is that someone throws me something, I catch it and then realize it is a grenade. I try to throw it away from me but can’t for some reason. Then there is bright flash. THE END.

Everything always seems great while I’m dreaming it. Then I wake up, think about it and realize it wasn’t.

I die in my dreams. Even wrote about it [“If I Die Before I Wake”](http://maggieameanderings.com/2011-Jan-16.htm). Normally, it’s a few times a year. But I once narrowly escaped being killed, only saved my life by jumping out of the way at the last second and literally lived by inches…I spent the next month getting killed in my dreams. At first three times a night though it gradually decreased. It was not pleasant.

> Lalaith, I agree with you to some extent. Once the awareness happens, the step(s) to take control are a slippery slope. Still, for me anyway, at the moment that awareness happens I can also gauge how deep a sleep I am in, and decide then whether to attempt to control it, and to what degree. In the episode the other night, I felt that I was pretty deep, despite it being almost time to get up.

> One trick that I read about that works upon the awareness moment to keep yourself in the dream is to imagine in the dream that you are standing, extending your arms outward parallel to the ground, and spinning (clockwise works for me).

It’s interesting you can gauge how deep asleep you are. I’ve never done that.

I’ve tried the spinning technique. It never worked for me.

I don’t have lucid dreams, but I still sometimes can fly in regular dreams. Contrarily to some, I’ve no troubles with high-altitude flights, but it requires intense concentration to rise up and also, to a lesser degree, to keep flying.

I recently had for the first time a dream where I could fly without any such effort, towing along someone who has been recently one of the most supportive people I had in my life. I took this dream as symbolically significant.

Also, I’m dissapointed that people who have lucid dreams have so little control over them. I knew they had only limited control, but I would have assumed that flying was super basic and easy.
