Okay, make it statewide frequency. Doesn’t change a damn thing, but I’ll humor you anyway.
Wouldn’t want to be called disingenous by Huerta88. Anything but that.

Stats that purport to show white-on-black rape never happens are gravely prejudicial to people’s judgment of the facts, if they turn out to be untrue. Stats that purport to show the weekly rape incidence for the city when they actually refer to the whole state… well, aren’t we back to the red-cars-in-Siberia argument here? Surely by the logic someone was earlier advancing, the mere fact that there are rapes going on in the state shouldn’t be any evidence at all that there are rapes going on in the city?
I mean, I’m willing to discuss this, but how do you reason with someone who wants it both ways? :dubious:
Nifong, who, it was assumed, would be running unopposed for election to D.A., now faces he possibility of a write-in candidate. Guess who that candidate’s campaign manager will be? I bet you can’t.
I still think the fact that Al Sahrpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakan haven’t shown up speaks to the lack of financial viability of this case. My guess is, the judge (hope its a black woman) will throw out the case.
Nifong is an idiot :smack:
Al Sharpton may be feeling a little gun-shy after Tawana.
Didn’t Jesse Jackson offer to pay the accuser’s college tuition earlier?
Sorta. He offered to pay, but not with his own money. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/4/17/92336.shtml?s=ic
Sorry I’ve been away for so long; anyone miss me?
Supplemental Discovery Motion. Great reading. This ought to sway any of the fence sitters out there…

Yeesh! That morning TV news magazine bit doesn’t bode well for the accusation! Too bad she’s submitting her case to a court, and not the media. Sometimes they tell us to have a different opinion than what ends up being the actual real-life outcomes of official state proceedings, like the 2000 presidential election, the 2004 presidential election, the Simpson murder trial, Nagin’s re-election, Barry’s re-election, Bryant’s rape trial, Diallo’s case, Michael Jackson’s two trials…
He also, early on, introduced some lurid imagery by talking about how this case was a lineal descendant of the slavemaster (Jackson’s word)-on-slave-gal rapes, and how that historical pattern lent credibility to the accusations. I cited it supra (after being slammed for quoting his “slavemaster” language).
Nothing to add, I just didn’t want to be the only doper who hadn’t posted to this thread
Damn, I don’t think I’ve posted either. Wanna go for a beer, George?
Mods! Mods! Lawnchair posts!
A few new versions of the accuser’s story have come out: That there were 4 dancers at the party (Precious, Nikki, Angel, and Kimmy); and that she was attacked by 5 guys.
She musta been pretty drunk if she can’t remember how many strippers there were.
Regards,
Shodan
Is there anyone left in this thread who:
a) believes the accuser in any material detail, or
b) believes that the prosecution has a decent chance of persuading a jury beyond a reasonable doubt?
There are some legal types round here, right?
Assuming that there was no media coverage, and no race implications and no Jesse Jackson in this case. Would the DA normally be going ahead with charges with what they have?
DAs are elected. I imagine that even without the national coverage, it would certainly be a big enough local event for a DA to pursue it.
Oh, that’s it, you squealer. You’re on my list now.
