If you as a mod aren’t aware of a rule, how can anyone expect us posters to be? \*Remember when, out of the blue, a single Mod (Admin?) decided that there were to be no more “joke” threads (by which was meant “humorous”) threads in the Pit and then suspended **Esprix** for him not noticing the non-codified rule? I think Lynn was around back then. If you can get search to work then search for “insult” in a thread title. There are four pages of threads. Some were locked but I did not see one that was locked because of a “no insult threads allowed” rule. ---

Maybe the mods should take down Cecil’s[column all about creative insults](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/921/do-other-languages-have-obscenities-like-those-of-english). It gleefully reflects on all of the worlds most creative insults. And concludes with: [QUOTE=Cecil] Clearly we don’t lack potential, just ambition. First, game threads are not allowed in the Pit. Second, I thought that my old Pit rules had all been absorbed into the various newer threads about the rules, and I see that they aren’t. I’ve restuck my old Pit Rules thread, and I’ll take this up with the other mod/admins. However, those old rules have been in effect since I first posted them, and have been occasionally enforced. ---

Sorry. The edit timed out. I meant this [thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=29606&highlight=insult) I guess this was around before the rules though. I really see nothing wrong with that thread. It assume it was put in the pit so any “language” would be contained to where it should be, in the Pit. ---

Then please folllow the established precedent by moving the thread to the Games Room forum, and retract your statement that “Contests to see who can come up with the most creative insults have never been allowed in any forum.” There is a very big difference between “any forum” and just The Pit. ---
